Do you have the feeling that there is too much pressure on you? Do you lose sleep at night because of your study? Do you think your time is not enough _____ you have so many things to do? _____ a teenager, you may have these problems. First, be realistic (现实的). Don’t try to be perfect because no one is perfect. And expecting _____ to be perfect can add to your stress level too. If you need help on something, like schoolwork, ask for it.

If you want to become a fluent English speaker, maybe you should take some advice. There are four basic (基础的) skills in learning English. They are reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The most important thing you must remember is that if you want to improve your speaking and writing skills, you should first learn the skills of reading and listening.

Read as much as you can. But your reading must be active. It means that you must think about the meaning of the sentence, the meaning of the strange words and so on. There is no need for you to care too much about grammar or try to understand all the strange words you come across. It’s enough if you can recognize (识别) the words when you see them next time. It would be better to prepare a notebook for yourself so you can write down the important words or sentences in it.

As for listening, there are two choices. Besides reading, you can listen every day for about 30 minutes. You can only care about your reading and become skillful at your reading, then you can catch up on your listening. Since you have lots of inputs (输入) in your mind, you can easily guess what the speaker is going to say. This never means that you should not practice listening. For listening, you can listen to cartoons or some movies that are specially made for children. Their languages are easy to understand. Or if you are good at listening, you can listen to VOA or BBC programs every day. Again the thing to remember is being active in listening and you’d better take some notes.

If you follow these pieces of advice, your speaking and reading will improve quickly, and you can be a fluent English speaker one day.

Be an Excellent Teenager

Have you ever tasted something that you grew by yourself in your garden? Many people have never had this e1．. Alice Waters, who owns Chez. Panisse Restaurant, wanted to do something different.

Alice Waters has her own o2． about health. She thinks healthy food makes you healthy. She believes that food, environment and health are 3． (strong) connected. She hopes people can understand the i4． of the environment where their food comes from.

Waters got a lot of support from Neil Smith, the head of Martin Luther King Junior Middle School in Berkeley, California. She set up a cooking and gardening program at the school 5． his help.
