There have been many things like these in my life. I really didn’t know how to deal with them until I read If You Have a Lemon, Make a Lemonade by an American writer, Dale Carnegie.
“When the wise man is handed a lemon, he asks: ‘How can I turn this lemon into a lemonade? How can I improve my situation? What lesson can I learn from this?’” he wrote.
I suddenly realized that life is full of ups and downs, so I decided to stay positive (积极的) all the time.
Now when I think of my past, I wish I could have dealt with things differently. When my mother was fighting with her illness, I should have held her hands in mine, telling her that things would get better instead of hiding and crying.
Recently, I took part in a school singing competition. I didn’t win a prize. If I had not read the article, I would be sad and disappointed again. But I smiled after the competition because at least, I had got some experience in the singing competition.
Life is not just a bed of roses. There are thorns (刺) as well, but these thorns help us become braver and better. When life offers us a lemon, let’s try to make a lemonade.

Today, doctors know a lot about how to stop germs (细菌) from spreading. They advise people to cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze. Washing hands also helps. Storing food correctly can help prevent illness as well.
However, people didn’t use to know a lot about germs. For many years, even doctors didn’t really understand how illnesses spread. They did many things to avoid getting sick. Some doctors even tried dressing like birds.
In 1619, Charles de Lorme designed a special uniform for doctors treating plague (瘟疫) patients. The uniform had a long coat, gloves, boots and a wide-side hat. The doctors also carried long, wooden sticks so that they wouldn’t have to touch the patients. The mask made the doctors look like birds. It had a long beak with about 15 cm from the face. There were also two eyeholes covered in glass and two nose holes.
At that time, doctors believed the plague was spread by bad air. So the doctors put medicine and flowers in the beaks of their masks. They believed this would remove the bad smell from air before breathing it, preventing them from being affected by the plague.
Did it work? Well, not really. The germs that caused the plague did sometimes travel through the air, but good – smelling medicine wasn’t able to stop them. Many doctors still got sick by breathing through the nose holes in their masks. Some plague only spread through bites from fleas (跳蚤) and rodents (啮齿动物). The doctors’ uniforms did help protect them from this danger. However, it was largely the coat, gloves, boots and hat that did the job, not the bird mask.

China launched its Wentian space laboratory on Sunday, July 24, 2022,sending the country’s largest-ever spacecraft to Earth’s orbit to become part of the Tiangong space station.
Wentian laboratory module (问天实验舱) has three parts: working cabin, airlock cabin and service module. With a length of 17.9 meters and a takeoff weight of 23 tonnes, the diameter is 4.2m. The height is almost like a six-story building and the weight of ten cars.
The lab will carry a set of 5-meter-long auxiliary robotic arms (辅助机械臂) outside the airlock, they are small but precise, making it easy for small and medium-sized devices to be caught for more delicate operations.
The “small arms” can also be connected with the core module’s “big arm” to form a 15 meters long composite arm (组合臂) for more work outside the module. By then, the arm will climb between the three modules of Tianhe. Tianwen and Mengtian, and the “mech warrior” (机甲战士) can control an even greater area.
Working together, the two giant solar panels (太阳能板) will collect more solar energy, generating electricity of more than 430 kwh on average per day, which can provide enough energy for space station operations.
Noise treatment
There are three sleeping areas and one sanitation area (卫生区). The module has got many equipments (设备). To provide a quiet environment, the engineers found out the nosiest equipment and they used stricter noise control methods. Different types of the noise, we can take different methods to control. For example, the noise caused by acoustic radiation (声辐射) are placed in the boxes. As a result, the noise level in the working area can be kept between 10-60 decibels (分贝), 10 being the lowest setting for the sleeping area, allowing the astronauts to sleep quietly.
Outside the module, cameras are set up to record Earth and outer space. Ground controller will see the site situation and provide real-time protection.
