Many people exercise every day or every other day. You may be the same. But what about those times when you are sick? If you do not feel well, should you keep following your daily exercise habit?

Laskowski, a doctor, says that right exercise is usually OK if you have a common cold.

Laskowski and other doctors have a common rule about it. “It is usually fine to exercise,” he says, “if your symptoms (症状) are all ‘above the neck’, such as a runny nose, a sneeze (喷嚏) or a minor (轻微的) sore throat.”

Laskowski also says that exercise may make you feel better and help you breathe (呼吸) more easily. An American health website gives a similar idea.

Geralyn Coopersmith, a physical fitness trainer, wrote some books on exercise. “The rule is that if you take some medicine and don’t feel so sick, it’s OK to exercise.”

However, both Coopersmith and Dr. Laskowski say taking a break is better if your symptoms appear “below the neck”, such as the serious cough or pain in the stomach.

If you don’t feel too bad, these doctors both suggest (建议) cutting back on the intensity (强度) of your exercise. For example, if you usually run, take a quick walk. When you feel better, you can exercise with your usual intensity. However, Dr. Laskowski says that exercising when you have more than a common cold could bring “more serious illness”.

1.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A.Exercising when you have a common cold.B.Exercising when you get little sleep.
C.Exercising when you eat nothing.D.Exercising when you break your legs.
2.When should patients (病人) stop exercising according to Dr. Laskowski?
A.When they have some pain in the stomach.B.When they have a common cold.
C.When they have some pain in their eyes.D.When they just feel a little tired.
3.From the passage, we can infer that ________.
A.the doctors both wrote some books about exercise
B.taking a quick walk is better than running when you don’t feel too bad
C.if you have a serious cough, you should run half an hour less than usual
D.a common cold could bring serious illness after you exercise often
4.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.How can you keep healthy?B.Can exercise help patients feel better?
C.How often do you exercise?D.Should you exercise while sick?
5.In which section of the newspaper would you probably read this article?
A.Health.B.Education.C.Film.D.History.

In England, people used to stand on the right of escalators(扶梯), allowing others to walk on the left. But there is some change to this rule. People can stand on both sides of escalators at Holborn station. As one of the busiest stations of London Underground, Holborn was the first station in the country to ask travelers to stand on both the right and left sides of escalators. A test was carried out first. The test which lasted for three weeks showed that standing on both sides actually reduced(减少)congestion by 30 percent—16 , 220 people an hour are able to travel on the escalator during rush hours compared to the usual 12 ,745 when both standing and walking are allowed.

Transport for London (TfL) hopes the new standing rule will make the most of wasted space on longer escalators, where most people choose to wait on the right. London Underground Operation director Peter McNaught said, Few customers choose to walk on longer escalators such as at Holborn, so much of the left-hand side is unused. Almost every Chinese person can recite the two lines of the famous poem, “Every grain on the plate comes from hard work(谁知盘中餐,粒粒皆辛苦).” But sadly, many of us don’t actually get the real meaning of these lines: Don’t waste food.
A CCTV program, News One Plus One, reported that the food Chinese people throw away every year is enough to feed 200 million people for a year.
Do we have too much food? Of course not. According to the UN World Food Program, there were 925 million hungry people around the world in 2010, especially in developing countries. Six million children die of hunger every year.
Chinese people are well known for being hospitable(好客的) and generous. Many even feel that they lose face if their guests have eaten all the food on the table.
Luckily, a number of people have realized the importance of saving food. Last November, Li Hong, a waitress in a restaurant in Nanjing, got fired because she took some leftover food home for her son. Many people stood by her side and criticized(批评) the waste of food.
What should we do in our daily lives to waste less food? Here are some tips:
1. Do not order too much in a restaurant. Only order as much as you want to eat. If you cannot eat all the food you ordered, take the rest of it home.
2. Don’t be too picky(挑剔的) about food. Some food may not taste great, but your body needs it.
3. Keep an eye on what food you have at home. Don’t buy too much, especially for vegetables and fruit.
