Over the past two years, micro-dramas on online platforms (平台) have experienced a rapid growth in the Chinese market. What is a micro-drama? It often lasts only a few minutes, some even less than 60 seconds for each episode (集). It is typically played on mini-programs or social platforms. For example, micro-dramas like Unrivaled surpassed (超过) ¥100 million in eight days, while Night Shift Diary got more than one billion views. Please, Don’t Spoil Me, played on Tencent Video, surpassed ¥30 million, and the three-episode series Escape from the British Museum trended on Weibo for a long time.

Nowadays, micro-dramas are a new global fashion, and several Chinese micro-drama platforms developed abroad. Reelshort is one of the most popular apps of them.
