Today is Tuesday. It’s Parents’ Day.

Wei Min and Yang Ming says hello to each other. Wei Min asks Yang Ming, “Is your father here today?”

Yang Ming answers, “No. He is very busy(忙碌). He is a doctor.”

Wei Min asks again, “What does your mother do? Where does she work?”

Yang Ming answers, “She is a reporter. She works at CCTV.” “How about your parents?” Yang Ming asks.

Wei Min says, “My father is an actor. And my mother is a factory worker. She works in a car factory. She’ll be here today!”

“That’s nice.” Yang Ming says, “Do you want to be a worker in the future?”

Wei Min smiles, “No, I want to be a doctor. I can help lots of people in my work.”

Next Monday we will have an English party! We can do a lot of things for the party. Zhang Li can dance. Ma Yun can sing English songs. Wang Dong can draw some pictures. Zhang Peng can do some kung fu. But Mike can’t do any kung fu, he wants to learn. Mr Chen can help him. Then Zhang Peng and Mike can do kung fu together. That will be fun!

Lucy is an American girl. There are three people in her family. Last year, Lucy bought a pen for her father on Father’s Day. And she bought some beautiful flowers for her mother on Mother’s Day. They were very happy. Today is Mother’s Day. What is Lucy doing? She is painting a picture and writing a message for her mother. What does she want to say to her mother? Do you know?

I have a picture of my pen pal. Look! He is Jimmy. He lives in the USA. It’s next to Canada. He is handsome. He likes playing basketball and talking with others. He wants to be a basketball player in the future. He goes to school by bike. There are three people in his family. His father is a teacher.He likes reading. His mother is a nurse. She is kind to others. They go to work on foot.

My name is Sam. I’m an eleven-year-old boy from the USA. I study in Beijing China now. I usually go to school by subway with my father. He’s an English teacher in my school. Sometimes, we take a taxi. I am never late for school. My favorite subjects are Chinese and science. We have Chinese once a day and science twice a week. On the weekends, I usually go swimming in the swimming pool. It’s my favorite activity. I sometimes go hiking with my dad. Hiking is his favorite activity. He likes taking photos, too. He always takes lots of photos when(当……的时候) hiking. I like my life in China.

One year ago, Jim lived in a small country and he loved playing in the river near his house. When his family moved to a big city, Jim wasn’t happy.

One day, Jim asked his mother, “Is there a river near here?” His mother answered. “No, there isn’t, but there’s a nice park near here and there’s a pool(池塘) in it. We’re going there this afternoon.” Jim was very happy.

After lunch(午饭), Jim and his mother went to the park. Jim wanted to walk near the pool, but there was a sign(标记) in front of it. His mother read it to him, “Warning(警告): This pool is dangerous(危险的). 367 people fell into(掉入) it.” Jim looked into the pool carefully and said, “But where are they? I can’t see them.”

Mother’s Day is an important(重要的) day. It’s on the 2^nd Sunday in May. It’s a day children can show their mothers how much they love them. On Mother’s Day, many children give flowers to their mothers. This makes them very happy.

Mrs. Green lives in a small street(街道). She has a flower shop. People who live near her shop are poor(贫穷). The children don’t have money to buy flowers. Mrs. Green helps them. The children work one hour(小时) for Mrs. Green. They clean the windows in the shop. Then Mrs. Green gives them some flowers to take home for their mothers. The mothers have a nice Mother’s Day. Both the mothers and children were happy.

I’m Mike. I have a new friend. He is a Chinese boy. His name is Zhang Peng. He has black eyes and short hair. He is tall and strong. He likes painting. He paints well. He is my best friend.
