An old(年老的) tiger lives in the forest. He does not want to look for(寻找) food now. He often tells other animals to bring(带来) him something to eat.

One day, he sees a monkey and says, “I am hungry, Monkey. Go and bring me a fat pig.”

“Oh, Mr Tiger,” says the monkey. “I cannot do that now. There is a strong(强壮的) tiger over there. He also wants a fat pig. He will not let me get anything for you to eat. I am afraid of him.”

“What?” cries the old tiger, “Show me that tiger. I will talk to him.”

“Come with me,” says the monkey.

The monkey and the tiger get to a bridge(桥) over the river.

“Now look down at the river,” says the monkey, “Do you see the head, the white teeth and the big green eyes of a tiger?”

“Yes, I do.” cries the old tiger, “I will eat him up!”

With these words, he jumps into the water.

Mr White is a doctor and Mrs White is a nurse. They work in the same hospital. They are both busy. They have a white car. So they go to work by car.

One day Mr and Mrs White go shopping by car. They stop their car near a store. They buy a lot of things and they want to put the things in the car. But Mr White can’t open the door of the car, so they ask a policeman to help them. The policeman is very friendly to help them. Just then a man comes up and shouts, “What are you doing with my car?”

Mr and Mrs White take a look at the car’s number and they are frozen(惊呆了) there. It isn’t their car.

Mr Zhang is a doctor. He works in a hospital in Shanghai. He likes his job very much. He works from Monday to Saturday. He usually goes to work by car. He has many hobbies(爱好). He likes surfing the Internet(上网), taking photos and playing basketball. He is tall and he plays basketball very well. He usually plays basketball with his friends after work. In the evenings, he watches TV or surfs the Internet. He usually goes to the park with his family on Sundays. He likes playing with his son in the park.

John is an old man. He has a big house. He likes dogs very much. He has three dogs. One dog is from the UK. Her name is Cot. One dog is from the US. Her name is Dot. One dog is from China. Her name is Potty. John loves his dogs very much. He buys many toys for his dogs. Cot has a red cat. It is small and fun. Dot has a blue toy monkey. It can jump and run. Potty has a white toy rabbit. It has long ears. The dogs like their toys and they like John，too. They like playing with John very much.

Jake is an American boy. He is in Nanjing with his parents now. Jake doesn’t know Chinese, but he is studying Chinese. He often speaks Chinese to his Chinese friends. Sometimes they don’t understand him because he can’t speak Chinese well.

It’s Sunday morning. He goes out. He is walking in the street. He is going to see elephants and monkeys, but he doesn’t know how to get there. He asks a Chinese boy. The boy can’t understand him. Then he takes out a pen and a piece of paper. He draws monkey on it, and shows the picture to the boy. The boy understands him now, and draws a map for Jake.

Betty and Kitty are twins. They’re 12 years old. They look the same. But they have different hobbies, Betty likes collecting stamps. She has many beautiful stamps. They’re from different cities and countries. But Kitty likes growing flowers. The flowers are all very beautiful. Botty and Kitty both like reading books. Betty likes reading storybooks. But Kitty likes reading science books. On Sundays, they usually ride bikes to the park. They can play with their friends there. Sometimes their parents go there too.

Chinese New Year is the most important festival for Chinese people. Before it, people usually clean their houses, and buy new clothes and a lot of food. On the Eve of the new year, people cook nice food and the whole family have a big dinner together. On the first day of the new year, there is no housework because people think it will sweep their good luck away. And people often go to visit their friends and relatives. They say “Happy New Year” and some other greetings to each other. People usually have a great time.

A lot of people like living in the houses. So do I. My name is Tommy. I’m a farmer. I live with my father and my mother. This is my new house. My house is big and nice. There are seven rooms in it: two bedrooms, two studies, two bathrooms and a large sitting room. Look! This is my bedroom. It’s very bright. It’s on the second floor. There are two studies. The big one on the first floor is for my father. The small one on the second floor is for me. I often read books and draw pictures in my study. There’s no garden near my house. I often do exercise in the park at weekends. Sometimes my friends come to my house and we have BBQs together behind my house. We all like eating roast (烤) chicken wings. They’re yummy. I like my house very much.

There is a telephone on my desk. It’s my good friend. It helps me a lot. My telephone number is 8445816. Sometimes when I have something to talk about with my classmates, I don’t need to go out. I call them. I write down many telephone numbers of my friends. My best friend, John’s number is 8459471. When I can’t remember(记住) my homework, I ask him by telephone. There are some telephone messages beside my telephone. When I am out, my mother writes down the message for me.
