A grasshopper (蚱蜢) sits on the grass on a hot summer day. He says, "What a fine day! I can make music and dance here. How happy I am!" He has a good time and then he meets a little ant (蚂蚁). The ant is busy taking corn (玉米) home.
The grasshopper says to the ant, "Hello, little ant. Why are you working so hard? Aren’t you tired?" The ant answers, "Yes. I’m tired. But I’m working hard to collect (收集) the food for winter. When it is cold, I can rest and play in my home. You should get some food for the cold winter too." The grasshopper doesn’t do that. He plays and dances every day.
Winter comes soon. It is cold. The ant rests and plays in his home. He feels happy and warm.
One day, someone knocks on his door. He opens the door and sees the grasshopper. "Please help me, my friend," the grasshopper says. "I’m very cold and hungry. I don’t have any food to eat." The ant lets the grasshopper in and gives him some food to eat.
