Chinese New Year is the most important festival for Chinese people. Before it, people usually clean their houses, and buy some new clothes and food. On Chinese New Year’s Eve, people cook nice food and the whole family have a big dinner together. On the first day of Chinese New Year, there is no sweeping because people think it will sweep their good luck.

And people often go to visit their friends and relatives. They say “Happy New Year” and some other greetings to each other. Children can get some red packets from their parents and relatives. People usually have a very good time.

A poor little girl walks on the street. It’s very cold today. There are no people on the street. She feels hungry and cold. It’s Christmas today. She wants to eat the turkey and Christmas pudding. She wants to put on the beautiful clothes. But she has no father or mother. She doesn’t have warm clothes. Then Father Christmas comes. He gives the girl a big box. In the box, there are many beautiful clothes and some nice food. The girl is so happy. It’s snowy. What a beautiful sky! What a happy Christmas!

On Christmas morning, children like to get up early to find the presents in the stockings(长筒袜) or under the Christmas trees. On Christmas Day, Mike got up at six twenty. He quickly put on the clothes and looked for his presents in the stocking. “Wow, what a lovely toy dog! I like it very much.” He said happily. Then he ran down to the ground floor to see what’s in the box. He shook(摇) the box. His sister, Nancy came to him, “Oh, Mike, you are taking my present.” “What? Open it and have a look!” Then they opened the box, a pretty dress in it. Mike looked around, and he saw another box for him under the tree. He was happy.

Children all like playing with snow at Christmas. But the weather in winter is getting warmer and warmer. And it doesn't snow in some places in southern England. Sometimes it's hard for children there to have a white Christmas. Many children want to have snow to play with. They want to have a white Christmas. A rich man who is called Chris Hopkins bought 10, 000kilos of snow on the Internet for them. Mr Hopkins said, "The children here are unhappy. They are too young but they have no father or mother to look after them. All the children enjoy Christmas with snow and presents. I feel very happy when I find the snow brings smiles to their faces."

We do some shopping on Sundays. I often go to the supermarket (超市) with my mother on Sunday morning in a car. Father likes apples very much. We buy some red apples for him. Mother likes yellow bananas, but they are green. "Look! The strawberries are very nice, Mum. Do you like them? "I say to Mum. "Yes, I do. "Mother buys some for herself. The oranges are very nice. Mother buys some for me. I like oranges very much.

We need some vegetables. We buy some tomatoes, carrots and broccoli (花椰菜). I don't like broccoli, but my parents like it. After shopping, mother and I have some French fries (炸薯条), milk and ice cream. And then we go back home with the fruit and vegetables.

There are many holidays in western countries(国家), such as(例如) Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and so on. Christmas is the most important(最重要的) holiday. It is on the 25th of December. At Christmas, people don’t work and children don’t go to school. Families get together and have a big dinner. They give presents to each other and visit friends. They have a Christmas tree in their houses. They put pretty things on the Christmas tree. They go to see Father Christmas. Father Christmas has a white beard and wears red clothes. Children like Father Christmas very much because he brings them presents.

Jimmy is a nice boy. He’ s four. He often gets up at six. He has some bread and milk for his breakfast after he washes his face. Then he plays balls or rides his small bike in the garden. He likes watching TV, too. But these days he doesn't play balls. He plays his small drum(鼓). He likes it very much. Every day he plays it in his room. It's Sunday morning. Jimmy has his breakfast. Then he takes out his drum and starts to play it. Then his neighbor(邻居)comes in. She looks at the drum and asks, “Jimmy, what a nice box! What's in it? Do you know? Is there anything nice in it?” “No, I don't know.” Jimmy answers. “Let me help you. Here's a knife. Cut(切)it open! You'll see what's in it.”

Christmas is the most important (重要的) and popular festival in Western countries. On Christmas Day, Alice and her brother David wake up early. They get up at half past six and put on their clothes quickly. Next, Alice looks for her presents in the stocking. “Wow, what a nice dress! I like it very much,” Alice says happily. Then, she goes to see David's present. David gets a red toy car. Finally, they help their parents to open the presents under the Christmas tree. They have a lot of fun at Christmas.

On Christmas Eve-the night before Christmas Day, children are very happy. They put their stockings at the end of their beds before they go to bed. They want Father Christmas to give them some presents. Mr Green tells his children that Father Christmas is very kind man. He comes on Christmas Eve. he lands on top of each house and comes down the chimney (烟囱) into the fireplace (壁炉) and brings them a lot of presents.

Christmas Day always begins before breakfast. The children wake up very early. They can't wait to open the presents in their stockings. Then they wake up their parents and call: "Merry Christmas! Do you know what Christmas means? Christmas Day is the birthday of Jesus Christ (耶稣基督).When Christ was born, many people gave him presents. So today, people still do the same thing to each other.
