Sam receives an e-mail from Amy. Here is the e-mail.

The ant is carrying a big piece of bread to his home. He is very tired. On his way he meets his friends. He says, “Would you mind holding the bread for me?” “OK. We’ll help you.” the ant’s friends carry the bread and they go home together. “Here is my home. But I can’t find my key. I’m really worried.” says the ant. “Is this your key? It’s under the grass.” His friend points and says. “Yes, that’s it.” The ant is happy. He invites(邀请) his friends to have the bread together.

    Yuan Longping was born in Beijing in 1930. He moved with his family and went to school in many places because of wars(战争). Yuan Longping was famous for developing the first hybrid rice(因研究杂交水稻而出名) in 1970s. People call him “The Father of Hybrid Rice. He was great.

One day, Mr Read and his son Robert were going out for a walk. He put on a pair of shoes together with a pair of different socks, one white and one yellow. As he came out of his house, his son noticed(注意). the colours of his father’s socks and said “You have put on two different socks, dad.”

When he heard this, he looked at his socks and found that his son was right. He was happy and said to himself, “What a clever son I have got!” Then he said to his son to go back to the house to get another pair of socks for him.

When the son went back to the house, he found the socks were white and yellow, too. Robert then took the socks to his father and said. “It’s no use changing! These socks at home are also different, one yellow and one white.”

This is Charlie. He’s seven. All the boys and girls in the class are scared(害怕) of Charlie. It’s Monday. Charlie’s in the classroom. Lisa’s there, too. Charlie says “I can throw your eraser out of the window.” Tom is very sad. It’s Friday. Charlie is very happy, because tomorrow is his birthday. It’s Saturday. It’s Charlie’s birthday. He isn’t happy. No children come to his party. It’s Monday. All the children are in the classroom. Charlie says “I’m sorry!” The next weekend, all the children play at Charlie’s house. They’re very happy. So is Charlie!

One day Mr and Mrs White go shopping by car. They stop their car behind a police station. They buy a lot of things: a yellow cap, two blue T-shirts, some tomatoes, and peaches. They want to put the things in the car. But Mr White can’t open the door of the car, so they ask a policeman to help them. At this time, a young man runs to them and shouts, “What are you doing with my car?”

Mr and Mrs White look at the car carefully. It isn’t their car! They say sorry to the young man.

My uncle is coming to have dinner with us. Mum and I go shopping. We need to buy some meat, vegetables, and fruits. Meat was thirty yuan a kilo (千克) before. But now two kilos are ninety yuan. I say, "Mum, let's buy some fish." Mum answers, "OK. "Fish is my uncle's favourite food. We buy one kilo and a half. We buy some potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms, and so on. We also buy some apples. But we don't buy any bananas. He doesn't like them. Mum also wants to buy some oranges. Because I like them very much. But we can't find any. We go home at four in the afternoon.
