Breakfast is very important to everyone. We should eat some rice, noodles or bread, an egg and some milk. When the weather is very cold in the morning , we should drink a cup of hot drink . For example, a cup of hot milk or hot chocolate is great for us. It helps us feel warm. We must have enough time to eat breakfast. So don’t get up too late. A good breakfast can help us smile and feel happy. It can help us study or work better too. So, please remember, have breakfast every day! It’s really important to us.

Last weekend, Mike and his friend went to the Great Wall. They went there by car. They took many apples, bananas, and hamburgers. They also took some bread and water. They saw a lot of beautiful views. They saw many foreigners, too. They took a lot of pictures and drew the Great Wall. They went home on Sunday afternoon. They had rice, fish, chicken and vegetables for dinner together. At last, they wrote a diary about the Great Wall. They were tired, but they were very happy.

Little Robert’s mother gave him two cents the day before yesterday, and two cents yesterday. But now he is asking his mother for two cents more. His mother is very confused, because Little Robert always asks her to give him money these days.

“What did you do with the money I gave you yesterday?” his mum asks.

“I gave it to a poor old woman,” he answers.

“You are a good boy,” says his mother proudly. “Here are two cents. But why are you so interested in the poor old woman?”

“She is the one who sells the candy.” says Little Robert.

In the past, life was very hard, and many people were very poor. Lots of people had no enough food to eat. There were many people in a family and they lived a poor life. In those poor days, people had little meat to eat. They had vegetables every meal. Most of people can only eat some meat at the Spring Festival.

Now, life is becoming richer and richer. People can eat meat every meal. So they eat a lot of meat. They rarely have vegetables. As a result, they get fatter and fatter. They live a rich but unhealthy life.

To live a healthy life, we should eat healthy food and do more exercise. We should eat more vegetables and fruit. They are very important and healthy. Meat and oil are also very important to our bodies. But too much of them will make us fat and unhealthy.

Mrs White has two children. John is seven. Ann is only three. John is a good brother. He is always very nice to his sister. One day in the afternoon, Mrs White was cooking dinner in the kitchen, and the two children were playing games in the garden. Suddenly, Ann began to cry and she ran to her mother in the kitchen, Mrs White asked, “What’s wrong with you, Ann?” “John broke (弄坏) my Barbie doll,” Ann answered sadly. “How did he do that?” Mum asked. Ann stopped crying and said, “I hit (打) John on the head with my Barbie doll.”

Lisa is the youngest child in the family. When Lisa was a little girl, she loved to play games with her brother and sister.

One day, after a heavy snow, their father was reading in the living room, and their mother was cleaning the house. Lisa and her brother and sister were playing in the backyard. They decided to make a snowman. So Lisa and her sister went back to the house, and they took a carrot, a long red scarf, a hat, and some colourful buttons. The carrot was for the nose, and two buttons were for the eyes. At last, they made a big round snowman. It was very cute.

I had a wonderful summer holiday. During the holiday, I went to a lot of famous places with my family. We went to Inner Mongolia and Beijing, and we flew back to Shenzhen on 17th August. We saw many cows and sheep in Inner Mongolia. The sky there was blue and the water there was very clean. Then, we went to Beijing. We visited many places there. First of all, we climbed the Great Wall. After that, we went to the Palace Museum as well as Tian’anmen Square. We were very happy. I like Beijing, and I hope I can go to Beijing again.

Alice lives in Shenzhen. She had a wonderful and busy summer holiday. She went to a lot of places and did a lot of things. At the beginning of the summer holiday, she finished her homework at home. Then she went to Hong Kong and bought many things with her family. After that she went to her hometown. Hunan and visited her grandparents. She helped her grandparents do a lot of housework. She watered the plants, set the table, made the bed and cleaned the room. Then, Alice went to Guilin with her family. They ate a lot of delicious food and took the bamboo raft. At the end of the summer holiday, she went to Yunnan. She climbed the Yulong Snow Mountain. She felt very excited!

Jill and Kate are going hiking with their classmates tomorrow. They want to take some fruit with them. Jill likes oranges and Kate likes apples. When they get to the supermarket, they can’t find any oranges, and the apples are too green. “What are we going to buy now?” asks Kate. “Hey, what’s that big round fruit over there?” asks Jill. “I don’t know. Let’s ask the salesgirl.” “Excuse me. What’s this?” asks Kate. “It’s a grapefruit(柚子),” answers the salesgirl. “Why don’t we buy one?” asks Jill. “OK. We will have a fun hiking and eat a new kind of fruit!” says Kate.

To save time, many Americans buy food which can be quickly made ready for the table. During holidays, families enjoy delicious meals. For example, on Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday in November, family members get together for a turkey dinner with pumpkin pies.

The United States is known around the world for its fast food, such as hamburgers, sandwiches, pizza and many kinds of ice cream. People can easily find fast food chains(连锁店), such as McDonald’s and KFC in most of the big cities in the world.

These years, many people have taken more and more care of their health while eating. They come to know eating too much meat will make them overweight. Many of them are also worried about food additives(添加剂). Some food additives may be harmful to the body.
