Bangkok is the capital (首都) of Thailand. It is very different from Guangzhou. There are many temples (寺庙) in Bangkok. It is hot all year round, so there are a lot of fruits. The most (最) famous fruit is durian (榴莲). There are many rivers in the city, so the market on the water is very famous. You can buy flowers, vegetables, fruits and other things on the boats.

The best time to visit Thailand is at the beginning of April, because it has the most important festival in Thailand—the Water Festival. It is the beginning of their New Year. Before the festival, people clean their house and cook nice food. During the festival, people sing, dance and throw water on each other. They think that water can clean away bad things and bring good luck. How interesting it is!

During holidays, Kitty usually goes to see the exhibits in many museums, such as the history museum, the art museum, the museum of science and technology and the museum of natural history. There are thousands of wonderful things in museum.There are paintings, sculptures(雕塑), costumes(服饰), swords(剑), ancient animal bones and plants, stuffed animals(动物标本)and many others. It is always a good review of history to visit those museums. It is also a great way to learn more things by myself.

Summer holiday is coming. Sarah and her friends make a holiday plan. They are going to visit some famous countries. For example, they are going to visit China. They are going to Beijing. They are going to visit the Summer Palace and Tian'anmen Square. They like them. They are going to the zoo to see animals in Beijing. They are going to learn Chinese. They are going to cook Chinese food. They like eating dumplings very much. They think the dumplings are delicious. At last, they are going to make some friends in China.

Florence Nightingale was born in 1820 in Italy. She wanted to help other people, so she became a nurse. She studied and worked very hard. When the war(战争) started in 1854, she went to the front(前线) with five other nurses. She found that things were much worse than she had thought. She used her own money to buy food, beds, books and some other necessary things. The sick soldiers liked her very much.

This class, I ask students about fashion. I show each student seven things and ask their opinions (看法) about each thing. Some of their answers are interesting! Here’s what the students in Class 8 like:

Jodie Smith likes the key ring. Her friend Jordan says he can’t stand(忍受) the scarf. “It’s for old people!” he says. William Jones loves the wallet, and his classmate Gina Taylor loves the watch. Her best friend Ann Rice doesn’t mind the watch, but she really likes the hair clip! Jerry Green likes the sunglasses.

And the coolest thing is the belt! Everyone loves it!

Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, a cartoon film based on a popular Chinese cartoon TV series, won the hearts of children in China.

The Chinese cartoon began to show in public on 16th January, 2009 (the first day of the winter holiday for Chinese primary school students). The children seemed to go straight to the cinema.

Two weeks after its release (首次上映), the cartoon film got a box-office income (票房收入) of 68 million yuan more than that of Madagascar 2 (《马达加斯加2》), which was released in China on January 1, 2009.

“I think it is more interesting than Madagascar 2,” said 8-year-old Wang Lu who saw both Chinese and American cartoon films.

However some parents didn’t enjoy Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf so much. “It’s so childish that I almost fell asleep in the cinema,” Wang Lu’s father said.

But primary school children’s great interest has brought the great box office. Parents join their children in the cinema—buying two or three tickets to keep them company (陪伴).

Mr Johnson lives in a town. He works in a museum. There are a lot of wonderful old things in it. He likes his work and often goes to work on time.

One day he left his office at twelve. He went to eat something. As soon as he went out of the gate, he met an old friend. They hadn’t seen each other for about five years. They were very happy. His friend asked him to drink. He agreed with him, and they went into a restaurant. There they drank a lot. Then his friend said, “Perhaps you’ve drunk too much. Let me help you get to your office.” “No, no,” said Mr Johnson. “My office is only two minutes’ walk. I can go there by myself.”

When his friend left, it was hard for him to stand. He was afraid to be late and stopped a taxi. When he got on, the driver asked, “Where are you going, sir?”

“To Park Street.”

“Oh! Sorry, sit,” the driver said in a hurry, “It’s just the Park Street.”

“OK!” Mr Johnson said and got off. He brought out some money and threw it to the driver. He shouted, “But don’t drive so fast next time!”
