People like to eat rice. Rice is a kind of grass. There are about 7, 200 kinds of rice. Rice grows in fields called paddies. Some rice needs lots of water to grow.

In China, rice fields have a history of over 8, 000 years. Chinese people are good at growing and cooking rice. There are many sayings about rice. If you say “I lost my rice bowl”, it means “I lost my job. ” Throwing a rice bowl on the floor means the person is angry. Parents teach their children to eat every grain of rice in their bowls, because it is not easy for farmers to grow rice.

Yuan Longping is called “the father of hybrid rice”. He helped China grow more rice than before. Now farmers grow Yuan’s hybrid rice in many countries. Hybrid rice helps many hungry people around the world. Yuan Longping was a great man and we should all learn from him.

I’m Lily. Five years ago, I was a student. My mum was a teacher. She taught Art. I was in her class. I studied very hard. I was a good student.

Now, my mum is retired. I’m a teacher. I work in a primary school. I teach children Art, too. Because I like drawing and singing. My children work very hard at school. I think I’m a good teacher.

She had sandwiches for lunch at half past twelve and fish, chips for the traditional dinner at half past six. Lingling likes English food very much. She says it’s delicious and it’s very different. Sundays are special in the UK. Families usually eat lunch together. They eat chicken, potatoes and other vegetables.

Everyone likes to eat apples. There are apple trees all part of the world. France grows(生产)the most apples in the world. American comes to the second.

Apples are red, yellow or green. They are very popular(受欢迎的)in America. Many people like to carry apples to work or to school to eat with their lunches. Most Americans people are often too busy or too tired to cook dinner, so they often have their dinners very simply(简单地). Apple juice is also a popular drink and apple pie is the favourite dessert for many Americans.

In England, everybody knows Jamie Oliver(吉米.奥利弗). He has his own TV show. In these shows, he tells people how to cook healthy food.

Everyone likes his shows because his food is easy to make. Jamie wants to tell people to eat healthily. In some schools in England, the food at lunch time wasn’t healthy. One day, Jamie went to a school to make a TV show about healthy diet(饮食). He cooked the food with lots of fruit and vegetables. At first the children didn’t want to eat because they didn’t like fruit or vegetables. But after they tasted(品尝) the food,  they started to enjoy it.

Now the food for children in schools has become much healthier.
