I got a postcard from China on my birthday. It is very beautiful. The postcard is about the Great Wall. It’s from my pen friend Daming. The Great Wall is very famous in the world. When I was five years old，I went to China with my parents and I visited the Great Wall. Now I think it is more beautiful than before. The Great Wall is more than twenty thousand kilometres long. People from all over the world go to China to visit it. I want to visit the Great Wall again.

One day, an old man went for a walk in a park in Washington, and when he was tired, he sat down on a bench. A young person was standing on the other side. “Look!” the old man said to the person. “Do you see that person with long hair? Is it a boy or a girl?” “A girl,” said his neighbor. “She's my daughter.” “Oh!” the old man said quickly. “Please forgive me; I didn't know you were her mother.” “I'm not,” said the other person, “I’m her father.”

I get up at half past six in the morning. I go to school at half past seven. I go to school by bus.

Classes begin at eight. We have six lessons every day. We do morning exercises at ten. Classes are over at four thirty. After school we clean our classroom.

I get home at five. We have dinner at six thirty. After dinner, I do my homework. I go to bed at nine or ten.

My name is Gao Ping. My English teacher is Julia. She is from England. She has two children, a son and a daughter. Her daughter is Betty. Her son is Dick. Julia and her daughter are in China, but her husband Paul Smith is in England. Her son is in America. Paul is a policeman. Dick is a college student. Betty and I are in the same school. We are classmates, and we are good friends. I teach her Chinese and she teaches me English.

George was a quiet, serious young man. He had been studying very hard for one year, and when he passed all his exams, his friend Jim went to give him his congratulations and then had an earnest talk with him.

“You’ve never been to a dance, George.” he said. “It’s boring always studying and never enjoying oneself. Come out with me this evening.”

“Maybe you’re right, Jim,” replied George after a moment of hesitation.

So they went to a dance and had a very good time. But George drank more than he was used to, and by midnight Jim became worried about him, so he said, “now we’ll walk home in the cool air.”

On their way home, they came to a bridge. George looked down at the river below very carefully, the stars were reflected on its surface.

“What are those lights down there?” George asked.

“They’re the stars, George,” Jim answered.

“The stars?” George said. “Well, then, they should be above in the sky. How did I get so high up here? They are now at my foot!”

I'm at a new school in Dalian now. I like it very much. School starts at eight o'clock. I get up at seven o'clock. We have four lessons in the morning. At break time, I usually play games with my friends. Lunch is at twelve o'clock. In the afternoon, we have two lessons. School finishes at half past three. I go home at four o'clock. I like my new school!
