Hello, I’m Jack. Today is warm and sunny. We are at the farm now. Look! These are green beans. They’re very long. These are potatoes. They’re very big. Many animals are over there. There are fifteen cows. They’re black and white, There are thirteen horses. They love to eat carrots.

My cat has five new kittens on January 15th. They still can’t see.

It’s January 20th. My kittens are five days old. They have white fur now. They are sleeping in the sun.

On January 31st, their eyes are open. They are round and brown. On February 14th, they can run and play with me. How cute!

I love them all.

I’m John. My birthday is on March 12th. I will be twelve. I will have my birthday party next Sunday. Many good friends will come to my birthday party. Mum will buy a birthday cake for me. She will cook noodles for me, too. Dad will buy me a toy car. I will get some cards on my birthday. My family and friends will eat the birthday cake together. I will have a good time at the party.

Welcome to our school. This is our classroom. There are twenty-three boys and twenty-two girls in our class. There are fifty teachers in our school. This is Miss Liu, our new English teacher. We have English lessons on Monday and Wednesday. We like English very much. That tall man is our PE teacher. We have PE lessons on Tuesday and Thursday. We like PE, too.

What do people around the world do on their birthdays? They celebrate in different ways.

In China, family members and friends eat noodles together and wish the child a long life. In England, the birthday cake has coins and other things baked into it. If the child gets a coin in a piece of cake, he will grow up to be rich. In America, the child blows out the candles on the birthday cake. If he blows them all out, his wish will come true. In Philippines, before his birthday, the child goes to church with his family and thanks God for his life.

Every year from May to August on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(青藏高原), Tibetan antelopes(藏羚羊)travel hundreds of kilometers to have their babies.

Their trip is hard. They have to cross railways and roads. Some die because of accidents(交通事故). To make their trip easier, people have made more than 30 “wildlife corridors(野生动物走廊)”.

A wildlife corridor can be natural(自然的)or man-made. If highways（高速公路）or cities get in the animals’ way, they can still move freely and safely through the corridor.

Tibetan antelopes are careful about dangers around them. So China makes special passages under highways or railway bridges. The passages are big. Antelopes can easily look around when they pass through.

It is not hard to get along with wild animals. Just give them a little more space(空间). They can have a bigger chance to thrive(兴旺).

Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province, China, is the host city of the 19th Asian Games(亚运会). It is the third Chinese city to hold the Asian Games after Beijing and Guangzhou in 1990 and 2010.

The Asian Games is a multi-sport event. We can watch many kinds of sports games. It is held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. It is the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games(奥运会).

The emblem(徽章) of thel9th Asian Games Hangzhou 2023 is named “Tides Surging”. The main figure of the emblem is composed of six elements: fan, Qiantang River, Qianjiang tide, the compention’s track, the symbol of the Internet and the sun figure symbolizing the Olympic Council of Asia. Below is the seal of the host city’s name and the year of holding, which constitute the complete emblem of the Hangzhou Asian Games together. The theme for the Hangzhou Asian Games is “green, smart, economical(节俭的) and civilized(文明)”.

To make the Games a great success, Chinese people work hard to get ready for it. Hangzhou has built 33 sports venues(场馆) and Asian Games Village according to The Paper. All the buildings are healthy for people.

Mr Kang is a tall man. He’s a farmer. He has a farm. It’s small. He has two dogs, fourteen pigs and thirty hens on the farm. The dogs are strong. The pigs are fat. The hens are cute. Mr Kang likes them very much.

Xia Tian is from Hangzhou. He’s ten years old. He’s short. He has a sister. She’s Xia Li. She’s six years old. She’s short, too. Xia Tian likes (喜欢) oranges. He doesn’t (不) like bananas. Xia Li doesn’t like oranges. She likes bananas.

Ding Wins China’s First Men’s World Chess Title

He made history for China. On April 30th，Ding Liren won the 2023 FIDE World Championship. ①Ding’s family Ding Liren comes from Wenzhou, Zhejiang. He’s 30 years old this year. His birthday is on October 24th. There are three people in his family. Ding’s mother is a nurse in a hospital. His father is a chess fan. Because of him, Ding got interested in chess.

②A gift for chess When he was four years old, Ding started to learn chess. After one year, he won the first prize. It was a surprise for everyone. His coach said, “He has a great gift for chess.” ③Ding’s hobbies He loves chess and works very hard. He doesn’t like to play video games. His favourite hobby is reading books. He also likes playing football and watching football matches.

④Help from others “When I lost the seventh game, I was sad and I thought too much.” Ding said, “My friends helped me a lot. They told me good ways to meet challenges(挑战).” Ding got much help from his mother, too. She took good care of him. He said, “When my mum stays together with me, I always win the chess game.” Tip: Dreams may come true if you work hard all the time.
