![]() On April 30th,Ding Liren won the 2023 FIDE World Championship. ①Ding’s family Ding Liren comes from Wenzhou, Zhejiang. He’s 30 years old this year. His birthday is on October 24th. There are three people in his family. Ding’s mother is a nurse in a hospital. His father is a chess fan. Because of him, Ding got interested in chess. | ②A gift for chess When he was four years old, Ding started to learn chess. After one year, he won the first prize. It was a surprise for everyone. His coach said, “He has a great gift for chess.” ③Ding’s hobbies He loves chess and works very hard. He doesn’t like to play video games. His favourite hobby is reading books. He also likes playing football and watching football matches. | ④Help from others “When I lost the seventh game, I was sad and I thought too much.” Ding said, “My friends helped me a lot. They told me good ways to meet challenges(挑战).” Ding got much help from his mother, too. She took good care of him.
