A farmer wanted to eat good food every day, but he didn’t like working. He often went to other farmers’ homes. When they ate some food, he ate with them. So other farmers didn’t like him.

One day, he saw a hare(野兔) running down the hill. The hare knocked against(撞击) a tree in his field, and broke(弄坏) its neck and fell dead(死亡). The farmer was so happy. “Great!” He went to the tree and got the dead hare, and went home with it.

That day, he ate a lot. He thought that the meat of the hare was very delicious.

The next day, he put down his hoe(锄头), and waited by the tree for a second hare to turn up(出现). He waited all day long, but no hare came at all.

My name is Mike. I’m twelve years old. I come from the UK. I study in No. 9 Primary School in Beijing. At school, I study English, math, science, Chinese, art and so on. I like Chinese culture (文化) and Chinese food very much. My favourite food is dumplings and noodles with tomatoes and eggs. I have many friends here. They are helpful and nice. I often play games and do homework with them. I like playing football with my best friend Lin Tao.

Hi, I’m Mike. I’m a writer. I like traveling. Planes are fast. Many people like to travel by plane. But I don’t like it because the airport is far from the city.

I like travelling by train. I think trains are safe. Train stations are in the cities. In a train, you can walk and open the window. You can see lots of interesting things on the way. But you can’t smoke(吸烟) in the train.

I like cars, too. You can start(开始) at any time(随时), and you don’t need to go to a train station or a bus stop. And you can carry lots of things in a car. But sometimes there are too many cars on the road.

I am Lucy. I like bags very much. I have two bags now. One is big and heavy. The bag is black. My father bought it ten years ago. And it has got no wheels and no pockets. And the other bag is yellow. It’s big but light. I bought it last year when I went to Beijing. It has got two wheels and three pockets. And it also has got a cute bear on it.

I’m Sarah. Today is Monday. I’m happy because today is my birthday. I go to the zoo with my parents. We see many animals. The elephant is walking. Bears are sleeping. My dog is very happy, too. He is running everywhere. Today is June 8th. My Aunt Emily’s birthday is coming, Dad, Mum and I will go to her house. She lives in Shanghai. We will go there by train. I can draw a dog and many flowers to her. Because she likes dogs and flowers. I will have a busy weekend.

It was Saturday yesterday. I got up at eight o’clock. First, I had some bread and milk for breakfast at half past eight. After breakfast I went shopping with my friends. We went to a big supermarket by bus. At half past eleven, we went back home. I had some rice and meat for lunch at half past twelve. I played table tennis with my friends in the afternoon. At half past six, I went back home for dinner. I was very hungry, so I had two hamburgers and a sandwich for dinner. I went to bed at a quarter to ten. What about your weekend?

It’s Qingqing’s birthday this Sunday. Her parents and friends will give presents to her. Her mum will make a birthday cake for her. Her dad will buy a new schoolbag for her. The schoolbag is pink(粉红色). It’s her favourite colour. The schoolbag has got two wheels. It’ll be easy for her to carry. Her friend Lili will make a kite for her. And she will write the Chinese word “Qing” on it. Lanlan will buy a book about animals for her. Qingqing loves animals very much. Junjun will buy a toy panda for her.

We live a happy life now. Our parents work very hard. And they buy us lots of beautiful clothes and interesting toys. We can eat different nice food every day. Our parents buy us what we want. But sometimes(有时) they buy too much food. We can’t eat it all. Sometimes they buy too many clothes we don’t need. This is a waste of resources(资源). I think we should say “no” to that. Some people still don’t have enough food in China. We should do something for them.

Jack and Lisa are good friends. They live far from school. They went to school by bus before. It took about 30 minutes. There was only one bus in the town. But now they go to school by car. Sometimes they walk to school. It takes about 50 minutes.
