Our life is changing. Ten years ago, the city was very old. There weren’t many trees. We lived in an old house. People in the city went to work on foot or by bike. Many people didn’t have cars. Now the city is very different from the past. It’s very beautiful. There are many tall buildings. I love the city.

I’m Li Fang. Here are the photos of my family. This is my grandmother. She was a singer. So she wore beautiful clothes. My grandfather was a doctor. And my father and my mother are teachers. They teach in different schools. My father teaches Chinese. And my mother teaches English. Now, my grandmother is learning English. My mother teaches her. She is a good student.

There are two pictures about our city. One is now, the other one is before(以前的). Look! There was a small park, but now there is a big and beautiful park. And there is a lake with some ducks on it. There wasn't a lake before. In our city there were some old houses, small trees. But now, there are some new and high buildings. The trees are very tall and the flowers are very beautiful. There are some supermarkets and some cars now. I love my city. Do you want to visit here?

We watched a television programme about China last night. An old lady talked about her life many years ago. She cooked on a fire. She didn’t have a television or a radio. She didn’t have a telephone. She worked in the fields. She couldn’t read or write.

Twenty years ago, I was a little girl. I lived in a small house with my parents. We couldn’t eat too much, because we didn’t have enough food. There weren’t any televisions. But now we live in a tall building. We can watch TV every day. We can eat delicious food. And our city is more and more beautiful. I love my country. I love my city. I am happy every day.

Hello. I'm Mr White. Forty years ago, I was a little boy. I lived in a small house with my parents. We couldn't eat too much, because we didn't have enough food. There weren't any televisions or radios. But now we live in a tall building. We have lots of fresh food. We can watch TV every day. We have telephones too.

Our school life was different in China three years ago. We studied in a small classroom. There were some old desks and chairs. There was a small blackboard. There were only two lights in the classroom. Now we study in a big classroom. We have got many new desks and chairs. We have got a big blackboard. And there are ten lights in our classroom. It's very bright (明亮的). I love my school life.

Long long ago, there was a poor man (穷人). He had an orange tree. On the tree, there were many fine oranges. One of them was very big, it was as big as a ball. The poor man was very happy. He gave it to the king (国王). The king was very glad and he gave the man lots of money.

When a rich man heard of it, he said to himself, “It was only an orange. Why did the king give so much money to him? I would take my gold cup to the king. He would give me more money.”

The next day when the king got the gold cup, he said to the rich man, "What a beautiful cup! I would show you something wonderful. This big orange is for you.”
