People make old things into new things. This is called recycling. People can recycle only some materials(材料)—paper, plastic, clothes, computers, mobile phones and metal(金属). But food cannot be recycled.

How do students recycle at school? Students make recycling boxes to collect cans(金属罐), paper, plastic bottles and bags. They try to use recycled things. They usually use plastic bottles to make toys. They use waste paper to make boxes…

Recycling is good for the environment. It is also good for our health. Let’s start from now on!

It is March 12th. It’s Tree Planting Day. There are many people on the hills. They’re planting trees. People plant many trees today. Plants are important to us. They can make food from the air, water and sunlight. But animals and people can’t do so. Animals and people can get food from plants. Without plants, life will not go on. Plants make the air clean. They can keep water from flowing away(流失). They can stop wind from blowing up sand and earth. But in some places people are cutting down too many trees. This brings about floods and sandstorm. Now more and more people know that plants are important.They will plant more trees and grow more plants. They will try to protect the trees.

As you know, there’s not enough clean water for people. So many of them lose their lives because of lacking (缺少)water. In a lot of countries, people have to cut down trees to make a living. So there’s nothing to keep water from running away. Also we have polluted (污染) the land, the rivers and the air. So we have to face more and more floods (洪水) and droughts (旱灾). We must do something useful to protect our environment. We can plant more trees and look after them well. We can save water and ask our parents to do so. We can’t throw any litter on the ground and we should collect it for recycling. If we take good care of our Earth today, it will be more beautiful tomorrow.

Water is in ponds, rivers, lakes and oceans (大海). Most of water we see is a liquid (液体). When water gets very cold, it freezes (结冰). It becomes a solid (固体). Solid water is called ice. Some of the Earth's water is invisible (看不见的). It is in the air. This kind of water is a gas. People, plants and animals need water to live. It is important to take care of the Earth's water. Polluted water will make people, plants and animals sick.

It was the National Day. During this long holiday, Wang Bing did many things. In the morning, he went to the zoo with his parents. He found there were many birds, tigers, monkeys and elephants, etc. When Wang Bing threw bananas to monkeys, they became very excited.

In the afternoon, they visited his grandparents. They were very happy to see each other. Wang Bing's father watched TV when grandpa showed some old photos to Wang Bing. They said much about past time. Wang Bing's mother and grandma cooked nice food for them. In the evening, they had a big dinner.

Forests are important to people and animals. They give food and shelters(居所) to animals. If there are no trees, animals will have no food or shelters. They will be dead. We get many things from forests. We get food from trees. Wood is useful for making paper. All the things we get from forests are important in our daily life. We can’t live without(没有) forests. We should protect forests.

"My grandma lives in a village. The rivers there are very clean. She often washes clothes by a river. I hope the rivers in our city can also be clean, " a student from Hangzhou wrote in his report(报告).

In Hangzhou, some primary school students took part in a survey(民意调查). They tested the water of the rivers near their homes and schools. They tried to find out what made the rivers dirty. Then, they wrote reports about that.

Now some students go to clean the rivers at weekends. And they also stop other people from throwing rubbish into the rivers. I think we can learn from them.

New York, London, Paris and other big cities are great places to live in. There are many interesting things to see and to do. You can go to different kinds of museums, and see all kinds of plays and films. You can also go shopping to buy things from all over the world.

However, living in big cities isn’t easy. It’s expensive to live there, and there are too many people in some big cities. Every year many people move to the cities because there are some chances (机会) to find jobs, to study at good schools, and to choose good hospitals. But sometimes these people cannot find work or a good place to live in. Also it is hard to keep the cities safe and clean.

Some people enjoy living in big cities. Others do not. Before people move to big cities, they need to think about the problems of living there.

Now the Earth is in bad condition. For example, in some places, the air and the water is so dirty that too many animals and plants are dead. At the same time, many animals and plants are in danger because of the destruction of their habitats.

Luckily, people have realized the problem. On April 22nd, millions of people all over the world do something good for the Earth. Some clean up lakes and rivers, some pick up rubbish, others give speeches to call on more people to take action and not to destroy (破坏) the Earth. But can we save the Earth only by one day’s work? The future of our planet depends on our efforts.

What we should do is make every day “Earth Day”. Only by taking good care of it every day can we hope to live in harmony (和谐) with nature.

Here's a book about the seas. It is for children. It tells us about different kinds of water pollution (污染) and the things we can do to keep the seas clean. It also tells us about the different ways we can save water. Simon Walker wrote this book. From the book, we can know:

Three-fourths of the Earth is water. For many years, the seas have helped us by giving us food and water. Humans, plants and animals all need clean water. Without water, nothing can live. But now, the seas are crying because they are very sick. We are feeding them dirty water from factories and rubbish from our homes. There is not much clean water on Earth. Sometimes we can see dead fish in the seas. All of us should do a lot to save them. We should recuse and save water. Don't throw rubbish into the seas. We should classify (把……分类) the rubbish and put it into the corresponding (相应的) bins.

You can see many wonderful photos of the seas in this book. There are also beautiful photos of sea animals like whales and seahorses. You can also see photos of the pink dolphins. I think it is a very interesting and useful book.
