Tom is a cat. Jerry is a mouse. Sometimes they are good friends. But sometimes they are not. It was sunny last Sunday. Tom invited Jerry to fish. Jerry was very happy. They rode a bike to a river. Then they began to fish. Two hours later. They didn’t get any fish. They were very hungry. Tom watched Jerry and asked, “Jerry, are we good friends?” “Yes, of course,” Jerry said. “Then can I eat you for lunch?” Tom asked and he ran to catch Jerry. How poor Jerry was!

Today lots of people order takeout(点外卖) on different Apps. Did people also order takeout in the Song dynasty(宋朝)? The answer is yes!

At that time, people didn’t have phones. They couldn’t use the Internet. But they could order takeout! Some restaurants had takeout workers. They went out and yelled(吆喝) their dishes. People ordered, and the workers took the food to people’s houses.

Now, takeout workers use e-bikes. But in the Song dynasty, there weren’t any bikes. Takeout workers walked to send food. How could they keep food warm? They used a special box!

Today is Wednesday. I am so excited. It’s “No Homework Day” in my school. On this day, we don’t have any homework. Because of the “Double Reduction”(双减), I can finish my homework before 7:00 p.m. on other days. That’s really good. After dinner, I usually do some sports. Sometimes I go for a walk with my family. And I go to bed early every day. Sleeping enough makes me healthy and happy.

On the weekend, I have more time to do my favourite things. I like painting and playing basketball. On Saturdays, I often draw pictures in the park. On Sundays, I usually go to the gym and play basketball. It will be sunny this Sunday. I am going to have a picnic with my friends. It will be fun!

Our eyes are very important to us. They are like cameras (照相机). We can see beautiful things and colours around us with our eyes. But if we don’t take care of them, they may hurt. How do we protect (保护) our eyes?

On sunny days, we had better wear our sunglasses. When we read, we should not stay too close to our books and the light should not be too bright (明亮的) or too dark (黑暗的). We must not read in bed. It is bad for our eyes. We can’t read books in a bus or play games on computer too long.

We should do everything to protect our eyes.

Hi, I’m Joe. How was your summer holiday? My summer holiday was really great! I went to Hainan with my parents. We swam in the sea. My father went boating and my mother took many pictures. I was very excited. In September, I’m going to No.1 Middle School. I’m going to study Chinese, English, maths, history and many other subjects. How about you? What are you going to learn?

Before going to China, Mr. Black was a doctor in America. He worked at a hospital in New York. He got up early and went to work by car. The hospital was far from his house. We were very happy. Tomorrow I will go back to the USA with my mother. We are going back by plane. My good friend Mike also likes Chinese very much. He wants to learn it from me.
