Ding Wins China’s First Men’s World Chess Title

He made history for China. On April 30th，Ding Liren won the 2023 FIDE World Championship. ①Ding’s family Ding Liren comes from Wenzhou, Zhejiang. He’s 30 years old this year. His birthday is on October 24th. There are three people in his family. Ding’s mother is a nurse in a hospital. His father is a chess fan. Because of him, Ding got interested in chess.

②A gift for chess When he was four years old, Ding started to learn chess. After one year, he won the first prize. It was a surprise for everyone. His coach said, “He has a great gift for chess.” ③Ding’s hobbies He loves chess and works very hard. He doesn’t like to play video games. His favourite hobby is reading books. He also likes playing football and watching football matches.

④Help from others “When I lost the seventh game, I was sad and I thought too much.” Ding said, “My friends helped me a lot. They told me good ways to meet challenges(挑战).” Ding got much help from his mother, too. She took good care of him. He said, “When my mum stays together with me, I always win the chess game.” Tip: Dreams may come true if you work hard all the time.

Lingling is a Chinese girl. She likes collecting stamps. Lingling has got some friends from Canada, the UK and the US. They often send her letters. So Lingling has collected many stamps from Canada, the UK and the US. She has got a stamp book. She puts her stamps into this book. Some stamps are very new and some are very old. She likes the stamps in her stamp book. She can tell many stories about the stamps. Do you want to be her friend?

There are seven days in a week. On Sunday, I play football with my friends. On Monday, I go to the library. On Tuesday, I often do my homework. On Wednesday, I study Maths. On Thursday, I go to the park. I run On Saturday.

In many English homes people eat four meals a day: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

People have breakfast at any time from seven to nine in the morning. They eat eggs or bread. English people drink tea or coffee for breakfast. Lunch comes at one o’ clock. Afternoon tea is from four to five in the afternoon. And dinner is at about half past seven.

But not all English people eat like that. Some of them have their dinner in the middle of the day. Their meals are breakfast, dinner, afternoon tea, and supper. All these meals are very simple.
