Kate’s birthday is on the 12th of January. Next Friday will be her birthday. Her parents are going to have a birthday party for her. They are going to invite all Kate’s best friends and some relatives. They are going to have the party in their garden because a lot of people will come. Kate is excited because she will get a lot of presents. Her parents are getting ready for the party. They are going to buy some food and drinks. And they are going to buy a big cake and some presents for Kate.

Hello, my name is Jiayu. I’m twelve years old. I was very short and fat before. Now I am a tall and healthy girl. My dad was a soldier (军人), and he was very strong back then. He seldom stayed at home. He works at a hospital now. He is still busy. Because of the COVID-19 (新型冠状病毒肺炎), my father and his colleagues (同事) work around the clock to help the sick people. My mother is a reporter. She was thin before, but now she is a little plump (丰腴的；微胖的). But she is still very pretty! I love my dad and mum, and they both love me, too!

I like my town. It isn’t very big but the people here are nice. At the weekend, there are lots of things to do. The town centre (中心) is small but there are some nice shops, or we do some shopping. Some days we don’t buy anything, but it’s always fun. There’s a cinema in the town too, my friends and I see a film together. I like football, so on Sunday morning, I play football with lots of   friends in the park. People often swim in the lake near the town center, but only (仅仅) in summer! My town is OK and my friends are great.

My name is Xiaoling. My hometown (家乡) is in a small village in Guangxi. Last week, I went back to the village to see my grandfather. I found many changes of my hometown. The road was narrow (狭窄的) and dirty before. But now it is wide and clean. There was no shop in the village. People had to go a long way to buy things. But now there are some small stores and a supermarket. There are so many trees on the hills near the village. But there were only a few before. And the river beside the village is clean now, but it was dirty before. My grandfather was strong and healthy before. But he is weak (瘦弱的) and thin now. I should go back home to see him more often and buy him more good food.

My name is Jack. I had a nice day today. I got up at 6:30 this morning. I went to my friend Tim’s home to meet him. Then we went to the train station together. We arrived in Hong Kong at 10:00 a.m. Tim said he was very excited because it was his first visit to Hong Kong. We went to Tsim Sha Tsui(尖沙咀) to go shopping. I bought a new watch there. Then we had hamburgers and chicken for lunch. I think I ate a little too much because later I felt ill. Tim sat with me until I felt better. He was so kind. After lunch, Tim and I went to Hong Kong Island. Then we went on a bus to go to Ocean Park. We took on a cable car(缆车) around the park. I was very afraid but it was so much fun! We were there for two hours. We watched the sea animals. I love the animals. After visiting Ocean Park, we had dinner at Peak(山顶). From the Peak we can see the beautiful view of Hong Kong. We got back home late at night, but I felt very happy.

My name is Sally White. I am a school girl. I live in the countryside. The air is fresh and clean. But my school is far from my home. Every day it takes me a long time to get there. The road is not flat. So I can’t go to school by bike. I often go there by bus or on foot. It takes me thirty minutes to get there by bus or an hour on foot. I must get up very early every morning. I have no time for breakfast at home. I often eat something for breakfast on the way. I don’t want to be late for school.

Mr. Hill is an art teacher. He comes from Canada. He was on holiday in China last week. On Monday he was in Beijing. He went there by plane. He visited the Great Wall and Tian’anmen Square (广场). They’re wonderful. He painted some beautiful pictures there. He stayed in Beijing for three days. On Thursday he took a train to Chongqing. He visited some of his friends there. He watched a football match with his friends there. He liked the food in Chongqing. It was spicy but tasty. On Friday he went to Shenzhen by subway. It was warm in Shenzhen. The people were friendly. He made some new friends there. He stayed there for two days. He went back to Canada on Sunday morning. He liked China very much. He said (说) China is a great country.

Hello, I’m Tom. I had a nice day. I got up just before 6 o’clock this morning. I went to my friend Lily’s house to meet her. Then we went to the train station. We got on the train to Hong Kong at 8: 30 a.m. We arrived in Hong Kong at the train station at 10: 30 a.m. We went to Tsim Sha Tsui first to go shopping and had a big lunch. I was so hungry! After lunch Lily and I went to Hong Kong Island. Then we went on a bus to go to Ocean Park. We travelled around the park on a cable car (缆车). I was very afraid but it was fun! We were there for four hours. We watched the sea animals.

After visiting Ocean Park we had dinner at the Peak (山顶). From the Peak you can see the great view(风景)of Hong Kong. It is very beautiful at night time because we can see all the beautiful city lights. When we finished dinner, Lily and I went back to the train station by bus so we could travel back to Guangzhou. I was very tired.

We got back home very late at night but I felt very happy.

Many people in China celebrate the Lantern Festival. On the night of the Lantern Festival, children carry beautiful lanterns. The lanterns are in different shapes. Some lanterns look like pigs, some look like fishes, and some look like lions. Families eat yuanxiao for good luck. Yuanziao is round.

This is an important festival for many Chinese people. On that day, families meet together. They talk, eat and have a good time.
