Shopping in Guangzhou

In Guangzhou, there are lots of department stores, markets, supermarkets, shopping malls, shopping centres and shops. You can go shopping. And you can find anything you need. Most of the department stores, supermarkets, markets and shops are open from nine in the morning till half past ten in the evening.

There are two famous pedestrian streets in this city. One is the Beijing Road Pedestrian Street (北京路步行街), and the other is the Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street (上下九步行街). People in Guangzhou also like shopping in Tianhe. There are two big malls-Teemall and Grand-view Mall.

Many visitors say that things in these places are nice and not expensive. Visitors from all over the world like shopping in Guangzhou.

May is a girl from countryside. She studies in the city. She doesn’t want to go back to the countryside because she thinks it is not modern at all. She likes the city life very much. So she finds a job in the city. She works in a tall building. She is very busy. When she is free, she has dinner with her good friends. At the weekend, she can go to the cinema and see a film. She can go shopping in the supermarket. It is noisy and crowded in the city. It is quiet and clean in the countryside. But May likes the colourful life in the city. She must work harder and harder because she wants to buy a house in the city.

Big cities are wonderful places to live in. There are many nice things to see and to do. You can go to different museums and theatres. You can also go shopping to buy things from all over the world.

But there are many problems in big cities, too. The cost(费用) of living is high. And there are too many people in some places. Every year many people move to the cities because they want to find jobs or to study at good schools. But sometimes these people can’t find good places to live in. Also, too many people in a small space makes it hard to keep the cities safe and clean.

What's the weather like today? It’s sunny, windy and warm. I go to meet my pen pal, a girl from Dalian, in the City Zoo. The zoo is between a supermarket and a library. My pen pal's name is Lingling. She is thirteen years old and she wants to be an animal feeder(饲养员). She loves animals very much. Now we are watching elephants playing. They are funny and clever. There are many people in the zoo. They like to see animals. A boy is feeding a koala. But the animal feeder stops him. We have a good time today.
