Children like swimming in summer because they feel cool in water. But it may be dangerous. Every year, there are some students died of swimming. Most of them live in villages. Some students think they are good swimmers, bad things will not happen to them. So they go swimming in the lakes or rivers alone. Some students think the water is not deep. It’s safe for them to swim. They don’t know what dangerous they may face. They may lose their lives at last. Summer holiday is coming. If you want to swim, you’d better swim in the swimming pool or swim with your parents. Remember that: Don’t swim in the lakes or rivers. Don’t swim alone.

He feels bored. Angle is collecting leaves. What about Mrs. Black? She is taking pictures of her children. Oh, it’s 11:40. It’s time to have lunch. Mrs. Black and her children are going back home.

It was rainy (下雨的) last weekend. John and his parents couldn’t have a picnic in the mountain, so they were at home. They were busy all the weekend. His mother washed the clothes and cooked three meals for them. His father cleaned the windows, doors, desks and chairs of all the rooms. John emptied (倒空) the trash (垃圾) and helped them with the housework. John’s father read a book in the evening. John and his mother watched TV. They were very tired but very happy, because they all had lots of things to do.

Hello! I'm Jack. I am in Grade Five. Today is Sunday. I stay at home. I had a lot of fun yesterday. In the morning I visited the museum with my friend, Jim. We learnt a lot about history. It was very interesting. At the lunchtime, I shared my lunch with Jim in the park. In the afternoon, we were in the playground. We played baseball. We went home at 4 :30 p.m. What a happy day!

Most Chinese people have three meals a day. In the past, they had breakfast in the morning, a big lunch at noon and a light dinner at night.

But now both men and women in the big cities have to work on the weekdays. So they often have bread, eggs and milk for breakfast at home. For lunch, Chinese take-away food is very popular (流行的) . They often have a quick lunch in their workplaces.

After work in the afternoon, they have more time for dinner. They usually have a big meal at home. Wives (妻子) often cook meat, fish, chicken, vegetables and rice for their family. You can also find dumplings and noodles on the table in most families of northern China.

What are you doing, children? Oh, you are playing games. Look at Li Ping. He is playing basketball with Tom. What about the twins(双胞胎)? They are flying kites. The kites are very beautiful. One looks like a bird, and the other is like a plane. Li Tao is playing football with Lucy. Han Mei and Ma lin are singing an English song under a big tree.

It was afternoon in the forest. The sun was behind the trees. The animals were quiet. They were watching for the sun to go down. There was an old spider (蜘蛛). Slowly she worked on a web (网). It was a very large web. The spider made the web between (在……之间) two trees. The web was silver (银色的) and gold in the evening sun. The spider worked, and the sun set. Night came (夜幕降临). Nearby, an old elephant was dying (快要死了). He walked slowly. Swinging   (摇摆，转动) his old trunk (象鼻). Then the elephant slept.

On Saturday morning, I’m going to have a piano lesson. Then I will come back home by bus. In the afternoon, I’m going to do my homework for two hours. Then I’m going to play football and ride a bike with my sister. In the evening, I will do some reading for one hour.

On Sunday morning, I’m going to the bookstore to buy some interesting books. After that, I will take a rest. At noon, I’m going to have lunch at MacDonald’s with my family. In the afternoon, I’m going to have a math lesson. The lesson will end at twenty past five. In the evening, I will go to bed early and get ready for the next day.
