Len was thirty years old and he had very long hair. He lived in a big city. Because of his long hair, he did not find any work. One day he met an old friend, and this man said to him," People in this city don't like long hair. Why don't you go to a barber? He can cut a lot of it off, and then you can get some work." At the barber's Len said to the barber," Please cut most of my hair off."

The barber began. He cut and cut for a long time and then he said to Len," Were you in the army a few years ago?"

"Yes, I was." Len answered. "Why did you ask that?"

"Because I found a cap in your hair."

Mary read a book about space travel yesterday. It says an American spaceship took a man into space in 1969. The man’s name is Armstrong. He is the fist person who walked on the moon. Russia sent the first animal into space in 1957. That was a dog. Its name is Laika. China sent a man into space in 2003. His name is Yang Liwei. The book is interesting and Mary loves it.

Yesterday I went to a Planetarium with my parents. I got some knowledge (知识) about space. People started to explore (探索) space last century (世纪). In 1965, the former Soviet Union (前苏联) sent people into space for the first time in the world.

The astronaut (宇航员) was Alexei Leonov (列昂诺夫). And he was the first one to walk in space. In 2003, Shenzhou V from China sent Yang Liwei into space. This was China's first space travel. And Yang stayed in space for more than (超过) twenty one hours. It was a great step (步) in China's space exploration.

My father bought a book for me. I like it very much. It said Russia sent the first animal into space. An American spaceship took a man into space. China sent a man into space in 2003 too. I hope to go to the moon in a spaceship one day.

Mr. Black had two cats. One was very big and the other was quite small. He liked them very much. One day, Mr. Green, a friend of his, came to see him. To his great surprise, he saw two holes in the door, a large hole and a small hole. He said, “My dear friend, why are there two holes in your door?” “Let the cats in and out.” Mr. Black answered.

“But why are there two holes? Isn’t one hole enough?” asked his friend.

“How can the big cat go through the small hole?” He said.

Last Saturday, Leo and his family went to the Space Museum. Leo is very interested in space. He was excited. In the Space Museum, they saw lots of pictures about space travel. There were many models such as planes, rockets, satellites (卫星) and spacecrafts (航天器). Leo saw a model of a spaceship. It was so cool. Leo couldn’t take his eyes off it. He said, “I want to travel to Mars(火星)! I want to be a taikonaut!” The next day, Leo got a present from his father. It was a book about space travel.

Daming is very happy on his birthday because he got a present from Simon’s mum, it’s a book about space travel. He finished the book soon, and he learnt more about space travel. He saw much more pictures of spaceships from China, Russia and the US. How interesting it is! Daming wants to be a taikonaut in the future. He is going to make a model of Shenzhou V, the famous spaceship took a Chinese taikonaut into space for the first time. He is going to give the spaceship to Simon's mum and thank her for the birthday present.

Sally’s old grandfather lived with her. Every morning he went for a walk in the park and come home at half past twelve for his lunch. But one morning a police car stopped near Sally’s house at twelve O’clock, and two policemen helped her grandfather to get out. One of them said to Sally: "The old man lost his way in the park and called us for help, so we sent a car to bring him home.” Sally was very surprised, but she thanked the policemen and they left. "But, grandfather,” she asked, "you go to the park every day for twenty years. How did you lose your way? The old man smiled and said, "I didn’t lose my way. I was just tired and didn’t want to walk home.”

One day, a monkey and a turtle ran a race. The monkey said, " I am big, I can run fast. I will win." The turtle said," I am small. I am slow. But I will do my best." The monkey ran faster than the turtle. Then the monkey's friend, the rabbit came out. The rabbit said to the monkey, let's play!" The monkey thought he would win anyway. So he played with the rabbit. The turtle ran slowly. But he ran and ran. Finally the turtle won. The turtle shouted, " I won!" The monkey was still playing with the rabbit. Then the monkey found the turtle. He was very surprised. But it was too late.

Today is Mary's birthday. She is having a birthday party at home. Look! Mary is playing the piano. Lingling is playing the violin. Cindy is singing. Lisa is playing the guitar. Linda is playing the flute. Sally is dancing with her dog. What a funny dog! Listen! The bell is ringing. Who is coming? Mary opens the door and more friends come in. They bring some gifts and candy. Mike gives a doll to Mary. John brings a beautiful birthday card. Mum's cake is OK. They are eating the cake and singing the birthday song. They are having a good time.
