Father’s Day is a special day when we celebrate (祝贺) fathers and grandfathers. After Mother’s Day became a holiday in America, a woman named Sonora Dodd wanted to have a day for fathers, too. Her mother had died (死了) when she was a baby, and her father had raised (抚育) her all by himself. So she began a special holiday, Father’s Day, to honor (尊敬) her own father, and all fathers. It is on the third Sunday in June.
On Father’s Day children make or buy presents for their fathers and grandfathers. The children also tell their fathers that they love them, and thank their fathers for all of the love and support (支持) that fathers give their children. Sometimes children make breakfast for their fathers and bring it to them in bed. It is a day to show love and respect (尊重) for fathers.

On Christmas Eve, the night before Christmas Day, children are very happy. They put their stocking at the end of their beds before they go to bed. They want Father Christmas to give them some presents.
Mr Green tells his children that Father Christmas is a very kind man. He comes on Christmas Eve. He lands on top of each house and comes down the chimney(烟囱) into the fireplace and brings them a lot of presents.
Christmas Day always begins before breakfast. The children wake up very early. They open the presents in their stockings. Then they wake up their parents and call, “Merry Christmas!”
Do you know what Christmas means? Christmas Day is the birthday of Jesus Christ. When Christ was born, many people gave him presents. So today, people still do the same thing to each other.

Mid-Autumn Festival
In Asia, many people celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. It’s usually in September or October.
On that holiday, children make beautiful lanterns and carry them to play. The lanterns have different shapes. There are pig lanterns, fish lanterns, lion lanterns and so on.
People usually watch the moon and eat moon cakes in the evening. They believe that moon cakes mean good luck. The moon cakes also have different shapes. But most of them are round.
Today is Mid-Autumn Festival. Su Hai and her twin sister are watching the moon. Their parents are eating the moon cakes. Su Hai’s cousin, Andy, is playing with a fish lantern. They are having a good time.
