Mary is seven. She can go to school. It is the first day at school. Her teachers are very good. The other(其他的) children are very friendly(友好的). She likes the school very much. After school, she goes home with the other children.

The next day, she doesn’t go home with the other children. She asks a question to the teacher, Miss Brown. “What did I do at school today?” “Why(为什么) do you ask me the question?” Miss Brown asks her. “Because my mother will ask me the question at home. ”

Four friends live in a small town. Their names are John, Miller, Smith and Carter. They all have different jobs. One is a policeman, one is a cook, one is a farmer, and one is a doctor.

It’s Tuesday afternoon. John’s son breaks his leg and John takes him to the doctor. The doctor’s sister is Smith’s wife. The farmer isn’t married. He has a lot of hens.

One day, I played computer games with some friends at home. We played for a long time. And I almost won the game. Just then, my mum walked in the room and turned off(关掉) the computer. I was so angry!

Then my mum gave me a football and said, “All right, you kids. Go out and play! I don’t want to see you inside for at least(至少) one hour.”

“An hour? It is cold outside!” we all said.

“Then put on your jackets and run around. You’ll become warm!”

Sadly, we all went out.

Then Jimmy hit the ball with his foot and I tried to get it. We chased(追逐) each other. And we started a football game. It was a lot of fun. Before we knew it, two hours passed (过去了).

That day I learnt that computer games are fun, but they are not as good as the real fun!

Can we live without salt? No, salt is very important to us. We need salt in our food. Animals need it, too. Most of the salt in our country comes from the sea. People dig very big pools and let sea water in. When the sun dries up the water, people can get salt from the ground. The salt is white, clean and beautiful.

There are lot of salt wells（井）in Sichuan. salt well is much like water well. People bring the well water up to the ground and then dry it in big jars over fire. In this way, they get salt.

We can also get salt from salt mines（矿）. salt mine may be found under the ground. some years ago, people in Jiangxi found a big salt mine and soon opened it. People there don't need salt from other places any more.

In the north-west of our country, there are many salt lakes. Some of these lakes are very big. The salt even in one big lake will be enough for our people for centuries.

My Favourite Present

I'm Tom. My favourite present is a pen from my grandfather. I got it in my birthday party two years ago. My grandfather wanted me to work hard, so he gave the pen to me.

It is a black pen, and it is used very well. It helps me with my study a lot. I do my homework with it, and I take examinations with it, too. When I see the pen, I will think of my grandfather. I know he cares about me very much, and I also love him. I will always work hard with the pen.

In March 2020, sixteen elephants left their home in Xishuangbanna and went north. They traveled for seventeen months. Sometimes they made trouble (麻烦).They ran into villages and ate farmers’ corn (玉米). But no one blamed (责怪) them. “It is OK. They’re hungry,” a farmer said. The elephants also brought many surprises. They had two babies on the way. The babies are big and strong now. To help the elephants get home, the police and experts (专家) closely watched them. They also guided (引导) the elephants with food and drink. In August 2021, the elephants ended their trip safely and happily. They went back home!

On October 16, 2021, Shenzhou XIII carried three Chinese astronauts (宇航员) into space (太空). They are Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu. They will live and work in Tiangong’s core module (核心舱), Tianhe, for six months. During their stay, they have many things to do. They will do scientific experiments (科学实验) and spacewalks.

On November 7, 2021, Wang Yaping became China’s first woman to walk in space! “I feel great!” Wang said when she came out of Tiangong space station. Wang, 41, together with astronaut Zhai Zhigang, had a 6.5-hour spacewalk. Wang also became a “space teacher” and gave a lesson to students on Earth.

One other special thing is that the astronauts will spend the Spring Festival in space for the first time. What will they do? We can see them on TV later and find out!
