In the US, there are many types of restaurants. Fast food restaurants are very famous. You can find many McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants.   You look at a menu above the counter, and choose what you’d like to eat. You pay the person who serves you. You take your food and sit down or take it away. There’s no need to leave a tip.

In a coffee shop you sit at the counter or at a table. You don’t wait for the waitress to show you where to sit. She usually brings you coffee when you sit down.   You tell her what you’d like to eat and she brings it to you. You must pay the money as you leave.

In a family restaurant the waitress shows you where to sit. Often the waitress tells you her name, but you don’t need to tell her yours. If you leave over anything, your waitress gives you a bag to take your food home. You add an extra fifteen cents to the bill as a tip.

In top class restaurants, you need a reservation and you need to arrive on time. The waiter shows you where to sit. If you have wine, he may ask you to taste it.   You can only refuse it if it tastes bad, not if you don’t like it. When you get your bill, check it and then add several dollars to it as a tip for the waiter.

Last week, the teacher told us that there were many old things in the museum. So we decided to go and see them. Yesterday we went there on foot because the museum was not far from our school, and the weather was warm. The sun was shining. We walked down Zhongshan Road and turned left at the second crossing (十字路口).We found it on the left. It was between a bookshop and a library.

Many people were there, but most of them were students. When the guide explained (讲解), we listened carefully. There we learned a lot.

This is my bedroom. It's big and clean. There is a desk on the left. There is a computer on the desk. The computer is new. There are some books on the desk, too. There is a lamp in my bedroom. There are two chairs near the desk. I like my bedroom very much.

My name is Xiaoming. I'm from China but now I live in London. There is a very large Chinatown in London. I went there for the Spring Festival with my grandparents. At night we saw a lion dance in the street. The lion was red and gold. There were beautiful lights everywhere. There was music, too. We had a great time. I think the Spring Festival is so great for all Chinese.

I hope you're well. I'm on holiday in London with my friend, Lucy. I arrived by plane last Monday. On Tuesday we saw Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. The next day we visited the British Museum and had dinner at a Chinese restaurant. On Thursday we went to Tower Bridge on the River Thames and looked at the city.

Today is Friday. We did some shopping. I took lots of photos and I'm sending them with email to you! Tomorrow we're going to fly home. It was a short holiday, but it was great!

The Whites like to go out for a trip on weekends. Last Sunday they went to the Beihai Park. Tom and Mike got up very early in the morning. Tom put on a shirt and shorts, and Mike put on a T-shirt and shorts. They also put on their sunglasses. After they helped their mother do the housework, they put bread, meat, eggs and some drinks in a basket and carried it to the car. Mrs White also took four apples with her. The little dog was running after her. It wanted to go with them, too. They were all very happy.
