How can you be a good child at home? It’ll be a great idea to follow these home rules:

Be helpful to your family members, like your parents, sisters and brothers. You should always try to help them if they need any help or are in trouble.
Say “please” and “thank you”. When you need help, you should always say “please”. Then others will help you happily. And a “thank you” is a must anytime.
Always share your good things, and not just keep it for yourself. And you will find sharing always makes you and your family members happy.
Help the family by doing your chores (家常杂务). Put away (放好) your toys, books and homework after you finish doing them if you don’t want to play with them. Put your laundry (要洗的衣服) into the washing machine.
Clean your own room and make your bed every day.
1.I will try to help if my mother is busy with the dinner. ( )
2.I will eat all the apples in the plate as my brother is watching. ( )
3.You will say “Please give me some money.” to your mother when you need some money. ( )

Everyone wants to have good manners, but it is not so easy. We must be careful of everything in our life. There is something we should know.

First, say “hello” to the people you meet, to your teachers, to your friends and classmates, and maybe to your neighbours. Second, try to help the others in need. Then very o will like you. And if you are in trouble, they will help you, too. Third, don’t laugh at others. That will be impolite.

Good manners make things easier. They can help people to live happily with each other. When you are nice to people, they will be nice to you, too.

1.It’s so easy for everyone to have good manners. (      )
2.It’s polite to say "hello" to the people you meet. (      )
3.If you often help others, they will also help you one day. (      )
4.Laughing at others is a polite thing. (      )

Being polite is very important. If you are polite to others, they will be polite to you. In English there are many words to show you are polite. Many visitors don’t know when to use “please”. When they go into a café and say “A coffee.” or “I want a coffee.” These might be OK for the English people. But they can be very impolite to an English ear if you are a visitor. So adding a simple “please” would make it better. “A coffee, please.” or “I would like a coffee, please.” will make you a polite visitor.

In fact, you can be even more polite: “Sorry, could you tell me the way to Oxford Street, please?” “Sorry, could you tell me your name again, please?” It’s very common to start a request (请求) with the word “sorry”.

If you ask for help, try “I’m sorry to bother you.” or “But could you possibly help me, please?” And you might say to a friend “Hey, John. Lend me $100, will you?” But you couldn’t say this to somebody you do not know well.
