Two young trees are standing at the top of a hill. Their names are Tim and Alan. One day, it's sunny and warm. Some birds are singing in the trees. The wind blows, and the trees are talking. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” asks Tim. “I'm not sure. I think I want to be a chair or a desk,” answers Alan, “Maybe I want to be a toy box. I like children.” “What do you want to be when you grow up?” asks Alan. “Me?” says Tim, “I just want to be a tree. I want to be a home for birds. I want to have many apples. And when it's sunny and hot, people and animals can stand under me.”

Computers

Computers are changing our life. You can do a lot of things with a computer, such as, writing articles (文章), watching videos, playing games and doing office work. But the most important use of computer is to access the internet. We don't need to leave home to borrow books from a library or to do shopping in a supermarket.

Computers enable us to have a more convenient(便利的) life.

Earth Hour is usually on the last Saturday of March. It's Earth Hour now. Many people turn off their lights. Alice usually watches TV with his parents in the evening, but now she is looking at stars. Kitty and Ben usually read storybooks before bedtime, but now they are lighting the candles. They are playing word games with their family. Sally usually does her homework at night, but now she is telling her sister a story. They feel proud to do something to save the Earth.

On a hot summer day, I feel the wind is cool. Where does wind come from? When (当) the sun warms the Earth, the air moves. The moving air is called the wind. The wind moves everywhere. There are different kinds of winds.

When the wind blows strongly, it can move the windmills quickly. It can make wet clothes dry. Children can fly kites happily. When the wind blows gently, it can transfer pollen (传播花粉). It makes people feel comfortable (舒适的). Strong wind will bring us power and energy. It is very useful. But sometimes the strong wind will destroy many houses and plants. That's too terrible.

Tom is on a camping (露营) trip with his mum, his dad and his older brother David. It is Tom's first camping trip.

They put up their tent (帐篷) beside a lake. They unpack (打开) their bags. They make their beds. In the morning they go for a walk in the forest. The forest is beautiful. The next day, Tom goes fishing with his dad. They fish for a long time. They don't catch anything. Tom and his dad sit by the lake and talk about the camping trip. They are both enjoying the trip.

Tom wants to go camping again. Next time, he wants his best friend Mike to go with them together.

The sun and the wind are arguing(争执).

The sun says, “I can make people take off their jackets. I am stronger than you.”The wind says, “No, I am stronger than you. I can blow. I can make people take off their jackets, too.”

A man goes out for a walk. He asks a tree, “How is the weather today? Is it hot outside?” “No. It is cold. It is windy,” the tree answers. The wind sees the man. He tries to blow the man's jacket off. “It's cold,” the man says. No matter(无论)how hard the wind blows, the man holds his jacket tightly(紧紧地).

The man goes out for a walk, again. He asks the tree, “How is the weather outside? Is it cold?” “No, It is sunny.” the tree answers. The sun sees the man. He shines strongly. “Oh. Its hot today.” the man says. He takes off his jacket.

The sun says to the wind, “Haha. I win. See! I am stronger than you.”

Where does rain come from? Rain always comes from clouds. But where do clouds come from? How does water get into the sky?

Think about your bathroom. There is hot water in your bath. Steam(蒸汽)goes up from the hot water. The steam makes small clouds in the bathroom. These warm clouds meet the cold walls and windows, and then we see small drops of water on the walls and windows.

The world is like your bathroom. The sun shines on the ocean. The water in the ocean becomes warm. Some of the water goes up into the sky and makes clouds. The wind carries the clouds for hundreds of kilometers(千米). Then the clouds meet cold air in the sky, and we see drops of water. The drops of water are rain.

The rain falls and runs into rivers. Rivers run into the ocean. And the water from the ocean makes clouds and more rain. So water is always moving from the ocean to clouds, then to rivers and again to the ocean.

Run Away From Fire

If there is a big fire in your flat, what should you do? What mustn't you do?

Make a towel(毛巾)wet and cover your mouth with it. Make your clothes wet with water. Try to get out of the house at once(立刻). Don't take too many things with you. Don't come back for your money or other things. Don't take the lift(电梯) when you get out of your flat. Walk down the stairs. If your clothes catch fire, don't run. Roll(滚)on the ground to make the fire die down(熄灭). If there is a lot of smoke, crawl(爬行)on the ground. Smoke is always high in the air. If your flat is on a tall building, don't jump down. Stay by the window and people may come to help you soon.
