My name is Lily. Today is Saturday. I do my homework and read books on Saturdays. My parents do housework at home. My father can cook. My mother can wash clothes. I can clean the rooms. Today we have salad, tomatoes and beef for lunch. Tomatoes are our favourite food. Tomorrow we’ll visit my grandparents. They live in a small village. There is a river and many tall mountains near the village. I love the small village.

When old Mr Chow was a young man, he went to visit his uncle in the city. His wife and children met him at the train station when he arrived back in the countryside. When he got off the train, his wife asked, "Did you miss us?"

"Yes, I missed you all. There's no place like home. Life in the city was strange. Uncle Tom lives in a modern neighbourhood (居住区). People go up to their homes in a big box." Mr Chow said.

"You look tired." said Mrs Chow.

"Yes, I need to sleep. I couldn't sleep at night because the light was much brighter (更亮）than the candle in our house."

"Why didn't you blow it out?" asked Mrs Chow.

"I tried (尝试）to, but it was in a glass ball." said Mr Chow.

Next Tuesday is the School Open Day. The students in Class 6B are going to have a crafts display for their parents.

Today is Wednesday. The students have two craft lessons. Everyone is very busy in the craft lessons. Jack is going to make a model plane. His father is a pilot and he is going to come to school on the School Open Day. He will be happy to see the model plane. Sally has a little sister, Betty. Betty is five years old. Sally wants to make a doll for Betty because she likes dolls best. Ben is making a model house. He says he wants to buy a big house like this for his parents in the future.

Their teacher, Mr Zhang, is busy too. He is helping the students make their crafts.

Fred likes fish very much. One day, he buys(买)some fish and takes it home. His son sees the fish and says to himself, “Very good! I can ask my friends to have it for lunch.”

The next day （第二天）, Fred comes home in the evening. The fish isn’t there. His son says, “Oh, dad, your cat eats the fish.” Fred gets angry (生气). He takes the cat and his son to the shop and weighs (称) the cat. Then he says, “Little boy, my fish weighs one kilo, and the cat weighs one kilo too. My fish is here, then where is my cat?”

Jill and Kate are going hiking (徒步旅行) with their classmates tomorrow. They want to take some fruit with them. Jill likes oranges and Kate likes apples. When they get to the market, they can’t find any oranges, and the apples are too green. “What are we going to buy now?” asks Kate. “Hey, what’s that big round fruit over there?” asks Jill. “I don’t know. Let’s ask the sales-girl.”“ What do you call this?” “Youzi,” answers the girl. “Why don’t we buy one?” asks Jill. “OK. We’re going to have lots of fun in hiking and eating a new kind of fruit!” says Kate.

I liked swimming very much. But I couldn’t swim very well. My dad could swim very well. I wanted to swim very well. So my dad taught me. It was not so hard to learn it. The first time, I could float in the water. I was very happy. The second time, I could move in the water. I was very excited. The third time, I could breathe in the water. But the fourth time, I could not go swimming. Because I had a bad cold. I had a headache. I should stay in bed. Oh! My God! I couldn't swim!
