One day, a dog has a piece of meat for his dinner. He goes home with the meat in his mouth. He is very happy. On his way home, there is a pond. He looked at it. What did he see? He sees a dog! And the dog has some meat in his mouth, too. ‘I want to get it, I can have two pieces of meat!’ He opens his mouth to get it. But his own meat falls into the pond. Oh, it is his shadow! He is sad.

In England, people often talk about the weather, because you can experience (经历) four seasons in one day. In the morning the weather is warm just like in spring. An hour later black clouds come, and then it rains hard and the weather gets a little cold. In the late afternoon the sky will clear up, the sun will begin to shine, and it will be summer at this time of the day.

In English, you can also have summer in winter, or have winter in summer. So in winter, sometimes you can swim, and in summer, sometimes you should wear warm clothes.

When you go to England, you will see that some English people often take an umbrella or a raincoat with them on a sunny morning, but you should not laugh at them. If you don’t take an umbrella or a raincoat, you will regret it later in the day.

An old lady comes to a bank and sees a car near the door. A man goes out of the car and goes into the bank. She looks into the car and the keys are in the lock. The old lady takes the keys and goes into the bank, too. The man takes a knife out of his pocket and says to the clerk (办事员)， “Give me all the money!” But the old lady doesn’t see this. She goes to the man, put the key in his hand and says, “Young man, never leave your keys in your car. Someone is going to steal (偷) it.”

On Christmas Eve, the night before Christmas Day, children are very happy. They put their stocking at the end of their beds before they go to bed. They want Father Christmas to give them some presents.

Mr Green tells his children that Father Christmas is a very kind man. He comes on Christmas Eve. He lands on top of each house and comes down the chimney(烟囱) into the fireplace and brings them a lot of presents.

Christmas Day always begins before breakfast. The children wake up very early. They open the presents in their stockings. Then they wake up their parents and call, “Merry Christmas!”

Do you know what Christmas means? Christmas Day is the birthday of Jesus Christ. When Christ was born, many people gave him presents. So today, people still do the same thing to each other.

There are some important festivals in China. I like the Md-autumn Festival best, it usually comes in September or October. The weather is cool and dry. It’s always sunny or cloudy. On that day, many families usually sit in the yard after dinner. They look at the moon at night. The moon is big and round. It looks like a plate (盘子). It’s very bright. People eat the moon cakes under the trees.. Children like to eat moon cakes. They are their favourite food. Grandparents often tell them some interesting stories. They like listening to the stories about Chang’e(嫦娥) and Wu Gang. There is a small white rabbit on the moon too. So the children all like the Mid-autumn Festival very much.

Look at the old man. What is he doing? He’s carrying(背) a very big box. The box is full of big apples and oranges. He wants to take it home. Can he do that? No, I don’t think so. Why not? Because the box is too full and it’s too heavy, and the man is old and thin. Look! What happens? He drops (跌落) the box. All the apples and oranges fall down. He is very sad. Poor man!

   Mike lives in a big city. Today he’s very happy. It’s the first day of the new term(学期). Mike wants to go back to school. He wants to see his friends. Mike gets up at six fifteen in the morning. He washes his face and puts on his new clothes at half past six. Look! He is having breakfast with his parents. Now he is ready for school. He gets to the school. He meets his friends outside the school gate. They are talking about the summer holiday. Then the bell rings at a quarter to eight. The school gate opens. Everyone runs to the classroom.

   It is half past twelve. The pupils of Class Two are in the classroom. They are having a break (休息).

Rose is drawing a horse. Henry is helping her. They can draw very well. Frank is playing his drum. It's noisy. Lucy is singing an English song. She is good at singing. She wants to be a singer. Jack is eating some French fries. They are nice. I am reading some books. They’re interesting. But it’s too noisy. So I’m not very happy.

I can see a sign on the wall. It says, “Don’t make a noise in the classroom.” Then I walk to the front of the classroom and say, “Look at the sign. Keep quiet, please.” My classmates look at me and don’t say a word. Oh, how quiet it is!
