Mrs Black lives in a small village. Her husband is dead, but she has one son. His name is Jim and he is twenty-one years old now.

Jim worked in a shop in the village one year ago, and he lived with his mother. Later, Jim got a good job in a town. He went to the town, and worked there, and lived there. The town’s name is Greenwood. It is quite a long way from his mother’s village. Jim’s mother was not happy about this, but Jim said, “There aren’t any good jobs for me in the village, mum, and I can get a lot of money in Greenwood. I can send you some every week.”

Mrs Black was very angry yesterday. She got on a train and went to her son’s house in Greenwood. She said to Jim: “Jim, why do you never phone me?” Jim laughed, “But, mum, you haven’t got a phone.” “No, I haven’t got a phone. But you’ve got one!”
