January 26, 2020 was really a bad day. Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest NBA players, lost his life (生命) in a plane crash (失事) in California, US on that day. The crash also took his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other people away. Kobe was only 41 years old.
People were very shocked and felt quite ________ after hearing about the bad news.
In the basketball world, Kobe was a bright superstar. He played basketball very well when he was a child. He jumped into the NBA straight from high school. He played for the Los Angeles Lаkеrѕ (洛杉矶湖人队) for 20 years. He ran fast and his skills were quite wonderful. He helped the US basketball team get two gold medals (金牌) in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. Once a reporter asked Kobe, “What made you achieve (获得) success (成功) ?” Kobe smiled and asked, “Have you ever seen the view of Los Angeles at 4 a.m.? I know the appearance of Los Angeles at 4 a.m. every day!’ People gave Kobe another name Black Mamba after a kind of snake. He was famous for the “Mamba mentality (曼巴精神).”
We’ll never see the Black Mamba play another game. But we’ll always remember how great he was.
