Elephants are the biggest( 最大的) animals on land. They like to live in family groups. There are about 20 elephants in a family group. The head of the family is usually a grandmother — the oldest female(雌性) elephant. Elephants eat grass and plants. Because they are so big, they need a lot of food. An elephant can eat up to 200kg of food a day and they eat for 16 hours a day! They eat with their long trunks(鼻子). But some people kill them for their long tusks and make a lot of money. Some people cut down many forests and elephants have less and less food to eat. They are in danger now!
