Ben is doing his homework in his study. He is writing about his new school. He writes like this:"There is a new playground, a new computer room and some new classrooms in our school now. We have four classes in the morning and two in the afternoon. We have Chinese. maths, English and many other lessons. After school, we can play basketball with our PE teacher in the school gym. We can also learn to sing and dance from our teacher if we like. We usually go home before 5:30 p. m. At home, I need one hour to finish the homework every day.”

Then Ben’s grandpa comes in and reads the writing. Grandpa tells Ben about his school when he was young. Grandpa says, “We didn’t have homework when we were pupils. Our school was just an old small house under a big tree then. And there was a river running behind the house. We often played in the river after school. We were in school for only half a day. We have three classes in the morning. We only learned Chinese and maths. We didn’t learn English and other lessons. In the afternoon, we needed to help parents on the farm. The teachers needed to work on the farm, too.”
