In many countries, there are four seasons in a year. But in some parts of Africa there are only two seasons. They are the dry season and the rainy season. In the dry season, there is no rain at all. It doesn’t rain for months, and it’s very hot, so all the leaves and grass turn yellow. The animals have little water to drink. It’s a hard time for them. In the rainy season, there is so much rain. Sometimes it rains day and night for weeks.

In the north pole (北极), there are only two seasons, too. They are summer and winter. In fact (事实上), it’s very cold all year round. In January, the temperature can be-59℃. Even in summer. the temperature is only about 0℃. So people always wear warm clothes. It’s so cold that no plants can grow there. People there eat all kinds of meat, like fish, deer and so on.
