Marathon (马拉松) is a long-distance race. Runners need to run about 42 kilometers. No one could finish the race in 2 hours. Some scientists thought this was the limit (限制) of the human body. But Eliud Kipchoge from Kenya proved (证明)them wrong.
Last month, Kipchoge ran the marathon in 1 hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds in Vienna. He became the first person to finish the marathon in less than two hours. "I can tell people no human is limited," Kipchoge said. He is one of the best marathoners in history. He has a lot of medals and made a few word records.
Science and technology also helped him. He ran with a team of pacers (陪跑员). They kept him in a good state (状态). He wore a special pair of shoes. The shoes can take in the runners' energy when their feet meet the ground. Then they return part of the energy to the runners. This helped him run faster.
1.What is Marathon?2.When did Kipchoge run the Marathon in Vienna?
3.Is Kipchoge great? Why?
4.Who kept Kipchoge in a good state?
5.How do his shoes help him run faster?
