On a Saturday evening, Kate and her brother, Jim, were eating at a restaurant near their home. That evening, they had to share their table with another person. That person was a young man in his twenties. After eating, he went to the restroom. Without realizing, he had left his mobile phone on the table. Five minutes later, he came out and walked out of the restaurant without looking back.

Kate saw the mobile phone on the table. She quickly told Jim, “Jim, the man left behind his mobile phone.”

Jim looked at the mobile phone. It took his breath away. It was one of the latest models on the market. Jim had always wanted a mobile phone. But his parents had told him, “You don’t need one. You can always use the house phone.”

He stared at it for some minutes. Then he said slowly, pausing on every word, “I want to take the mobile phone.”

Kate could not believe her ears. She only stared at her brother. “You can’t! What if the owner comes to look for it?”

Having made the decision, Jim quickly grabbed the mobile phone and put it in his schoolbag. Then, he took Kate’s hand and led her out of the restaurant quickly.

Once back home, Jim locked his house door with trembling hands. Inside his room, he too out the piece of beauty. Oh, he liked it so much. Now he had his own mobile phone. Soon, he was polishing it happily.

But Kate told him, “Jim, you cannot keep the mobile phone. What will you tell Father about this? He will ask you how you got the mobile phone.”

Jim said quickly, “I will say a friend lent it to me.”

Kate said, “Now you are lying too.” Oh dear! When had Jim turned so dishonest?

Then Kate saw a house phone number on the plastic cove of the mobile phone. “This is the young man’s phone number. Why don’t we just call this number? We will talk to him and ask him to come and take back his mobile phone.” She was trying to talk some sense into him.
