It is a cold evening in the middle of winter. But Harry’s house is warm. He reads a book in the room. The book is about a Chinese doctor and his invention (发明) .

The doctor was called Zhang Zhongjing. It was very cold in his city. The people could not stay warm. Zhang saw many poor people. (A) He wanted to make something warm for them to eat. He cooked mutton and vegetables. Then he put the mutton and vegetables inside the small dough (面团) ears. He put them in the soup and cooked them. In this way Zhang invented dumplings! The winter solstice came. It is the shortest day of the year. It has the longest, coldest night. Zhang gave the dumplings to the people in the town. They ate the dumplings and felt warm. People thanked Zhang.

After Harry reads the story, he tries to make Zhang’s mutton dumplings. But unluckily when he cooks them, all the dumplings break. (B) They taste bad. Harry is sad. It is the winter solstice. His parents will be home soon. He wants his parents to eat dumplings on this day. Harry looks around. He finds a bag of mutton dumplings in the freezer (冰箱). He cooks them quickly. Harry’s parents come home. They eat the dumplings together with Harry. They love the dumplings. Harry tells his parents about the bad dumplings. His mom laughs, “It’s OK. We are all together, and we have hot dumplings. It’s a great winter solstice, isn’t it? thank you!”

After ________ about Zhang Zhongjing and his invention, Harry decides to make dumplings for his parents on winter solstice.
