Born in the 14th century, Naxi ancient music is one of the world’s 1． (old) music types. The Naxi ethnic group (纳西族) created it with their own instruments. But today, few people can hear it or even know of it.

“One of my classmates comes 2． the Naxi ethnic group.” Liu Yunong told Teens. “When she talked about this endangered music, I thought maybe we could do something.” The 15-year-old girl is a music 3． (love) and guzheng player. Together with other classmates, she set 4． a project to promote (推广) Naxi music and used comic books (连环画) to introduce it.

In the comic books 5． they created, the leading role is a girl named Su Xiaodu. Her name is from sugudu (苏古笃), a 6． (music) instrument of Naxi culture. After a boy named Liu Nana visited a Naxi cultural museum, Su came into his life, and the story began.

“Many of our schoolmates loved this form of storytelling, and it 7． (successful) attracted 300 people to attend our online activity during the winter holiday.” Liu said. “We also planned 8． (invite) Xuan Ke, a highly-respected Naxi musician to give us a speech. But a few months 9． (late), Mr Xuan passed away at 93. “His death made us all realize the importance of protecting traditional music.” Liu added.

After the online activity, some young people recorded videos of 10． (they) playing Naxi music pieces, such as Shan Po Yang (《山坡羊》), on piano or guzheng. “When we watched them, we felt everything was worth it,” said Liu.
