Deep within the rainforest of Southeast Asia, an animal walks on a tree. Its two big, round eyes s1． for food, with only the light of the moon to go by. This is a t2． night for the endangered slow loris (蜂猴).

These tiny, reddish-brown primates, between 18 cm and 38 cm long, live in trees and only come out at night. During the day, they sleep on the tree. They roll up in a ball to h3． from danger.

Slow lorises m4． eat insects, fruit, eggs, small birds, etc. They have the l5．tongue in the primate family when you take body s6．into considering. This tongue is used to lick sap (舔汁) from trees and also for p7．.

When a slow loris r8． its arms, it’s trying to protect itself by using its long tongue to lick a sweat gland (汗腺) under its arm. The gland produces something that becomes a dangerous poison (毒药) when it’s mixed with the slow loris’s saliva (唾液). This makes the cute slow loris the world’s only known venomous (有毒的) primate! For protection, slow lorises use their tongues to c9． their babies in poison to scare away any enemy.

Unluckily, the slow loris has f 10．to protect itself from human beings. The animal has been very popular in the pet trade. This means the amazing slow loris faces a very uncertain future. What do you think we should do to protect it?
