But this could become a thing of the past. On June 3, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology(中华人民共和国工业和信息化部) announced(宣布) that China would allow the commercialization(商业化) of 5G. This means major(主要的) telecom carries(电信运营商) will start to provide 5G services.

5G promises much faster data(数据) download(下载) and upload(上载) speeds, and more stable(稳定的) connections. This means that you will be able to download an HD movie in seconds and only experience a short delay(延迟) when sending and receiving data. According to the Straits Times(海峡时报), 5G will be able to improve many most modern technologies, such as driverless cars, wearable devices(设备) and entertainment(娱乐).

With a 5G network, the short delay in information exchange(交换) will allow driverless cars to run more safely, as they will be able to communicate in real time and avoid dangers. At the same time, 5G-enabled(启用5G的) wearable devices will keep doctors paying attention to the health conditions of their patients all the time and warn them at once if there’s something wrong. VR games will become more popular with 5G. The short delay of 5G will make the games feel even more real.
