   Have you ever heard of Earth Day (April 22)? The first Earth Day was in 1970. In that year, about 20 million Americans walked to the streets, colleges, and hundreds of cities, calling on people to protect the Earth. People were beginning to worry about what they were doing to the environment. 1．

In 2007, people from over 150 countries organized more than 4,000 big events for Earth Day. This made it possible for more people to realize the necessity (必要性) of protecting the environment. 2． There are still many thousands of smaller, local events in the week around Earth Day. These events deal with environmental problems in the neighborhood.

Nowadays the WWF has made a list of simple things that each person can do to help save the environment. For example, we can print both sides of paper while using the printer. We can also turn off the computer while not using. The message that the WWF wants to give us is clear. 3． We can’t say “The problem is too big. I can’t fix it.” We can make a big difference, if we all do something like this all the time.

4． Climate (气候) change is the biggest challenge to the future of humans. The world needs us and our actions for Earth Day 2020. Climate change has caused so many serious problems. We must work together to solve them. Like American writer Ernest Hemingway said. “The Earth is a fine place and worth fighting for.”
