For some kids in Barcelona, Spain, their Friday trip to school has recently become a little different.

In September, five children in Barcelona, started a “bike bus” programme. Each Friday, they ride their bikes to ________ with their parents. Each time before doing so, they post their route (路线) online for other people to see. Anyone who wishes to ________ them could do so. The group has quickly grown to include hundreds of riders.

The bike bus begins at about 8 a. m. every Friday and ________ for about 25 minutes. At first, it has only a few students and parents. And soon more and more people join them. Having a picnic is one of the great pleased activities in summer. There are some things you should think about.

Packing (打包) your foods

Before you set off, check if your food box is shut closely. If it’s a hot summer’s day, then a cool box will be useful for keeping your picnic foods.

Don’t forget to pack cups or bottles for drinks.

Food safety

You should keep things like meat pies, fish and dairy dishes in cold boxes. You’d better keep your foods on ice for as long as possible before you eat them. Finally, carry some hand sanitizers (洗手液). Make sure that everyone’s hands are clean before they touch the foods.

Delicious snacks

After you have prepared the main dishes, it’s time to pack some snacks. Chips, chocolate candies and cookies are considered great picnic snacks. They are very delicious, of course, but be careful not to eat too many of them.

Do you think only humans are crazy about electronic products? You are wrong. 12 zoos in the United States and Canada have carried out (实施) a programme called Apps for Apes (大猩猩). It has found that the apes are also interested in playing iPads.

“We find that, similar to people, the apes like touching the screen and watching short videos,” said Richard Zimmerman, a manager of the programme.

The apes in these zoos can play iPads twice a week. Every time, they spend from 15 minutes to half an hour using different apps in iPads. They are most interested in apps for children, such as drawing, music and memory games.

Zimmerman said, “It’s like when we’re showing pop-up books (立体书) to children. The apes are among the most intelligent (智能的) animals, they are as clever as young children.”

The workers in the zoo are also studying how communication apps can help the apes better. “We find that an ape has a toothache. He would be able to touch a picture of a tooth on the iPad and communicate in that way,” said Zimmerman.

The programme wants to make people pay attention to the living problems of apes in the wild. The apes are in danger because people cut down too many forests.

One day, I picked up my daughter Lingling from school and went to the supermarket for a few things. I was hoping to be in and out quickly.

I found a short line with just one person in front of me. It was an old woman, and she was paying for her things with only coins. After a long day at work, I thought the woman was very terrible.

But then I watched a young salesman. He helped her count her coins, ever so kindly taking them from her shaking hands. I listened to him repeatedly say to her: “ Yes, ma’am (女士). ” When she asked if she had enough money to buy a bag, he told her she did. Then he walked over two lines and got one for her. This salesman wasn’t angry at all. He was patient and kind.

As I was watching him, I saw Lingling was too. I realised my daughter was learning an important lesson from a stranger.

When the woman was finished, the salesman began ringing up my things and thanked me for my patience (耐心). I thanked him too. I found the manager and told him about the salesman’s kindness and patience.

Then we left the supermarket with a full basket, but also with a heart full of thankfulness for such an important lesson.

Look at the bus. It’s a little different from other buses. It’s black and white, and has two black “ears” on the top, just like a panda. The lights of the bus are its “eyes”.
