One day an angel （天使）came across three peas. She said she could help each of them. ________ a dream.

   Believe it or not, oceans and seas are easy to be harmed by the development of human society. They are also influenced by man-made pollution easily. It is human beings that do great harm to the ocean ecosystems.

The coral reefs（珊瑚礁）are fine ecosystems that provide food and protection for many ocean creatures（生物）. The coral in almost all of the oceans is in danger from pollution. Chemicals from factories end up in the seas and oceans and destroy（破坏）coral reefs. If the coral systems die, some ocean creatures will be sure to die out.

Protecting the ocean also has something to do with the protection of ocean wildlife like dolphins. The fishing industry depends on modern ways to catch many fish in order to earn more money. But the nets for fishing also catch other sea animals. The fishing boat workers are advised to check their nets and set other ocean animals free. But the boats are in a hurry to make money and often other ocean animals are caught with fish.

Oil spills（泄露）can destroy the ocean environment because oil kills all ocean life. The world depends on oil and because there is plenty of oil off the shore in many countries, the need for oil is more important than the risk of the oil spill. However, the fact is that one ocean mistake can lead to an ocean environment accident that will cause years of damage to the fine ocean ecosystems. Oil spills will kill all the creatures in the area of the spill. The oil will be washed up on the shore and destroy the ecosystems along the shore, including birds.

Everyone who cares about the environment should pay more attention to protecting the ocean, and all of us should do something for the protection of the ocean.

   On April 1st, China announced that it would build the Xiongan New Area in Hebei Province. This will be of the same importance as the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the Pudong New Area.

The area will cover three counties(县) that sit at the center of the triangular(三角形的) area formed by Bejing, Tianjin and Shijiazhuang.

The Xiongan New Area has great potential(潜力) for growth. It has a large space to develop and will expand(扩大) to cover 2, 000 square kilometers. The transportation of the area is convenient, with only an hour’s drive to Beijing and Tianjin.

The new area also has a wonderful natural environment. It is home to Baiyangdian, one of the largest freshwater wetlands in North China. With more than 140 lakes, the wetland is known as the “pearl(珍珠)” of the North China Plain.

Once built, the area will lower the heavy burden(负担) on Beijing. For example, many companies, universities and scientific research centers will move from Beijing to the area.

The Double Ninth Festival（重阳节）is a special day for older people in China. On this holiday, younger people usually show love and respect for older people.

Respecting older people is a tradition in China. There are many ways in which Chinese people express their respect. When an older person    ①   a room, everyone stands up. People are introduced from the oldest to the youngest. When we present a book to an older person, two hands are used. Young people always offer their seats to older people on a crowded subway or bus.

In western countries, however, older people seldom think they are old. They are called “seniors” instead of “old people”. They’d rather do everything themselves. Even after retirement（退休）, they take on hobbies, part time jobs and new activities to keep their bodies working well.

Westerners respect their older people, too. Seniors usually take trains and buses for free. They are given discounts （折扣）in stores and restaurants.

But western seniors don’t often live with their children—they live    ②  . For holidays, the family usually gather at the grandparents’ homes. A great smile and a warm hug for their parents are enough for children to show their respect.
