My first flight to Dubai was fine. No one sat next to me so it was a quiet flight. When I arrived in Dubai, I had to get another flight to Shanghai. It was worse than the first one because I had to talk to a boring man and the food was terrible. The good thing was the film Spiderman 2. It was great. I was also glad to sit next to the window.
I met my cousins as soon as I arrived in Shanghai. I really like the two of my cousins, Lucky and Heather. When I first arrived, I didn’t know how to get into the city centre. Lucky and Heather took me around Shanghai. They are very helpful. We were safe on our own.
Shanghai is beautiful and has many modern buildings. There aren’t as many museums as in my hometown, London, but the restaurants are wonderful. I enjoy traditional Shanghai food very much, such as Red—Cooked Chicken.
Now I’m having a great time in Shanghai with my aunt Pat, my cousins and my new friends.

26.The writer met a boring man when she was flying to Dubai.

27.The writer felt happy to be with her cousins.

28.The writer went to the center of Shanghai on her own.

29.The writer is from Britain.

Nowadays, many children are treated as “little emperors” at home. Parents show so much love to their children that when they face problems, they don’t know how to solve them. So it’s important for children to learn to be independent.
In my opinion, parents should believe in their children and not do everything for them. It’s necessary to give children proper advice and more chances to make their own decisions. And it’s a good idea to allow children to have enough time to think about questions by themselves instead of telling them the answers.
As for children, on the other hand, they shouldn’t depend on their parents too much. They should learn to do chores in the house. It helps to develop their independence and teaches them how to look after themselves. And when they face difficulties, they should ask their parents for help and then solve them independently.
All in all, the teacher children learn to be independent, the better it is for their future.

36.When they have problems, many children don’t know _________.
A.what to doB.where to get helpC.how to tell their parents

37.Which of the following should parents do?
A.Spend more time with their children.
B.Tell their children to save more time.
C.Help their children solve problems by themselves.

38.The word “It” in Paragraph 3 refers to “________”.
A.to do choresB.to depend on parentsC.to look after themselves

39.What is Paragraph 3 about?
A.Suggestions for parents.B.Children’s difficulties.C.Advice for children.

40.What can be the best title for the text?
A.Help the parents moreB.Try to be good parentsC.Learn to be independent

Ryan’s life was nearly perfect. He had lots of friends in his neighborhood. They walked to school together every day, and after school they always had time to play.

Ryan did have one problem. It was his two-year-old sister, Alice. She was too small to play ball games. She couldn’t climb trees yet. Ryan and his friends didn’t want her around.

Ryan tried asking his mom to keep Alice at home. “Why does my sister have to come along?” he asked. “Troy’s sister doesn’t. Jimmy’s sister doesn’t. Why me?”

Ryan’s mother just laughed. “Troy’s sister is only six months old, and Jimmy doesn’t have a sister. Alice is nice, isn’t she?”

Today, Ryan was going to play baseball with his friends after school. Alice followed him as usual. The game got started. Alice sat on a stone nearby. Minutes later, it was Jimmy’s turn to hit the ball. Unluckily, it fell right into Mr. Mewhirter’s yard.

The boys ran over to Mr. Mewhirter’s fence. The ball was just out of reach. “None of us can fit through the fence,” Jimmy said.

Soon computers and other machines will be able to remember you by looking at your eyes! The program works because everyone’s eyes are different. So in the future you won’t have to remember a number when you want to use a machine or take money out of a bank. You’ll just have to look at the machine and it will be able to tell who you are.

The eye-recognition(眼睛识别) program has already been tested in shops and banks in the USA, Britain, Spain, Italy and Turkey. Soon this technology(技术) will take the place of all other ways of finding out who people are.

However, scientists are also working on other systems. Machines will soon be able to know you from the shape of your face or hand or even your smell! We already have machines that can tell who you are from your voice or the mark made by your finger.

Eye-recognition is better than other kinds because your eyes don’t change as you get older, and don’t get dirty like hands or fingers, and even twins have different eyes. So the eye-recognition program can be up to 94% correct, depending on how good the technology is. However, some other programs may only be 51% correct at present. In Britain, it was found that 91% of people who had tried it said that they liked the idea of eye-recognition.

In the future your computer will be looking you in the eye. So smile!

46.Where is the eye-recognition program being tested?
A.Shops in China.B.Schools in Britain.C.Banks in American.

47.Which recognition program is already in use ?
A.Smell-recognition.B.Finger-recognition.C.Face-recognition.

48.How many recognition programs are mentioned in this text?
A.4B.5C.6

49.What’s the last paragraph mainly about?
A.Most people like the eye-recognition.
B.Computers can remember you by looking at your clothes.
C.The eye-recognition is the best program.

50.Why are scientists working on the recognition programs?
A.To make people’s life easier.
B.To make the business develop better.
C.To make computers and machines work faster.
