People around the world were shocked by the death of Stephen Hawking this year. They respect (尊敬) the British scientist not only because of his achievements in physics but also his great spirit.

Hawking was bom in England on January 8^th, 1942. When he was a child, he was interested in science. In 1959, he entered Oxford University (牛津大学) to study natural science. However, he got a very serious illness in 1963. He couldn’t move or speak. He had to sit in a wheelchair (轮椅) and he could only communicate with others by computer.

In the face of these difficulies, Hawking didn’t give up. He went on to study at Cambridge University (剑桥大学) and did research on space and time. He wrote many great books. The most famous one is A Brief History Of Time (《时间简史》).

Hawking was invited to China to give speeches several times. His self-confidence (自信) and humorous words impressed (留下印象) us deeply.

Hawking’s unusual life encourages many people. Let’s not worry about our problems. Let’s face the challenges instead. As he once said, “Life is not fair, you just have to do the best you can in your situation.”

Have you ever been to Dongting Lake? It’s famous as “800—li Dongting Lake”. Dongting Lakeis in the northern part of Hunan Province. It is about 2,625 square kilometers in size. It is one of the five largest freshwater（淡水） lakes in China.

Every year thousands of tourists from all over the world come to Yueyang in order to enjoy thebeautiful   scenery （景色）around Dongting Lake.

With the development of society, protecting Dongting Lake has become a hot topic. In fact, people of Yueyang are trying to improve the environment of the lake, On the one hand, we set up East Dongting Lake Nature Reserve（东洞庭湖自然保护区）in 1982. it provides a good place for birds and rare（珍惜的） animals. On theafternoon of April 25^th, 2018, President Xi Jinping saw birds flying and milu deer （麋鹿）eating grass in East Dongting Lake Nature Reserve. On the other hand, factories mustn’t put waste water into the lake. Fishes are living in the clean water. Besides, colorful flowers and green trees are planted along Dongting Lake. It is nice for people to go there when flowers come out and leaves turn green.

Dongting Lake is our mother lake.   Everyone in Yueyang should play a part in protecting it.

The play showed her love for her family, friends and country. Another boy from Group I played the emperor in The Emperor s New Clothes. （3）许多学生一次又一次大笑。 Especially in the last scene, the emperor walked through the city without any clothes. Everyone said his new clothes were beautiful. But the young boy told the truth.

All the students watched the excellent performance given by the two groups. They were so excited that they didn’t leave until they took photos with all the performers. I did a good job at the play show. （4）每个人都喜欢我的表演，并且我们组获胜。
