After death, John went to see God. God looked
John argued, “My God, you didn’t give me any chance. If you made that magic apple hit on my head, the man who found the law of gravity(万有引力定律) should be me.”
God said, “OK, we might as well try again.”
At high speed,
The time returned once again now. God said to John, “What are your words now?” John begged, “My God, please give me
God shook his head and said, “No. The chance that the apple drops on the head of everyone is the same, but each person’s ability to seize(抓住) the chance is different.”

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of a computer program or a machine to think and learn. It is also a field of study that tries to make computers “smart”. John McCarthy, a scientist, came up with the name “artificial intelligence” in 1955. Many things such as learning and problem solving can be done by computers, though not in the same way as we do.
Some people have welcomed AI because it makes things possible. In some industries, AI is already doing the work that people used to do, such as assembling(装配) cars, digging the coal and lifting goods. Even more, AI will have a big influence on our daily life. The AI self-driving car will take us to our destinations (目的地). An AI tutor will help us with homework at home. The future of AI looks quite bright.
However, there are still some risks. Self-driving cars and trucks controlled by AI will take away drivers’ jobs in the future. What’s more, according to an expert, “Every AI advance by good people is an advance for the bad people, too.” The biggest worry is that bad people could use AI for evil purpose. For example, they could use AI to create websites that steal people’s personal information. Or they could use AI programs to hack software and break into computer systems. Although AI has its risks, it is clear that AI is here. It has been used in many ways and it is changing how people live and work. That makes AI important to watch, not to fear.

Want to go on holiday, but don’t have enough money for luxury hotels and expensive trips? Backpacking might be right up your street.
Backpacking is a very cheap kind of travel. European and American students and young adults who may not have all that much money often do that. It is called backpacking because, instead of using a suitcase, people put all their things in their large backpacks. A backpack sits on your back, and you pack all your clothes inside.
The most popular places for backpacking are Southeast Asia and South America. These countries aren’t very expensive and are also very hot for most of the year. India and Australia are also very popular. In 2002, over 400, 000 backpackers hit Australia. Sometimes, backpacking can be dangerous. A British backpacker was recently shot dead at a beach party in Thailand, and every year similar things happen.
Backpacking, in fact, is much more than a holiday—for young people in Europe, it is seen as a way of learning about the world. Backpackers often travel alone for many months, as this is seen as more of an adventure and challenge. Beyond finding new world, backpacking, people say, is all about “finding yourself”.

Albert Einstein was an extraordinary physicist, but no artist. Picasso could paint but he had no talent for science. Messi is great at soccer, but nobody talks about his singing ability. But there was a man 500 years ago, who showed extraordinary talents in many fields. “He was widely known as an artist and sculptor, but in fact he was also talented as an engineer, scientist and inventor.” says the BBC. The man they speak highly of is called Leonard da Vinci.
When he was 14, Da Vinci began to learn how to draw and paint from Andrea del Verrocchio, a famous sculptor and goldsmith in his time. Besides painting and drawing, Andrea del Verrocchio also introduced him chemistry, metallurgy (冶金) and carpentry (木匠). As a result, Da Vinci learned so many skills that it became natural for him to try new things.
Da Vinci was also interested in anatomy. He cut up bodies and drew detailed pictures of what he saw. Those drawings predicted the future of scientific medicine.
Apart from his scientific drawings, Da Vinci had genius for painting lifelike images of people like Mona Lisa whose smile has amazed people for centuries.
The best epitaph (碑文) for Da Vinci may be his own words. “Learning never exhausts the mind.” It is clear that centuries after his death, his never exhausted mind still inspires (启发) would-be talented men and women everywhere.
