Spring Festival is the lunar New Year (农历新年). It’s in January or February. The 2022 Spring Festival is on February 1. It’s the year of the Tiger.
When Spring Festival is coming, people are very busy, clean the house, cook Chinese traditional (传统的) food, make Spring Festival couplets (春联) and paper cuttings. On the eve of the Spring Festival, the family has a big dinner. There are lots of delicious (美味的) food. Jiaozi means reunion (团圆). People often put coins (硬币) and sugar (糖) in it. Fish, chicken, niangao and tangyuan are very nice. People also watch the Spring Festival Gala (春晚) that night. On the first day of the Spring Festival, people wear new clothes and say “Happy Spring Festival” to each other (彼此). Children often get hongbao from grandparents.
