My name is Hu Shiqi. I’m 12. I’m at Jiaxing Nanhu School in Zhejiang. This is our tradition-every student can have a birthday cake on their birthday. But I’m not happy.
Why? I was born on February 29. February is a short month. It only has 28 days. But every four years, it has an extra(额外的)day, February 29. So my birthday is a special birthday because it comes only once every four years.
So I wrote a letter to my head teacher. “Dear Mr. Wang, can I have my birthday cake on February 28? I only ate cake once at school four years ago.”
Then I was surprised to get a letter from the head teacher. He wrote, “Thank you for trusting me. I told the cook to make a birthday cake for you. You’re the only one born on February 29 in our school. You’re a lucky kid! Happy birthday!” This was a great birthday present.
On February 28, I had a special birthday with my classmates. We shared my birthday cake together. What a great birthday for me!
